Lochees 5 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 So as a budding fanfiction author I am running into a wall here. I have decent grammar and vocabulary (I get lazy sometimes in online forums and stuff when I'm being quick with the replies or writing with more slang in my speech). I also have no problem coming up with conflict chapters and those just flow pretty easy. But as we all know making character development or characters to relate to you need some chapters where no serious conflict happens and they just interact with other characters to enrich the world they live in as well as flesh themselves out even if their characters are well established in the show. My main issue is that when i write slice of life chapters the situations seem bland and incredibly predicable, also the characters speech patterns and flow of tone seems rather forced. So I guess what my question is for anyone who might want to throw their two bits into the collection hat here. Any tips for writing slice of life chapters? Any advice for making the characters interactions flow and not seem forced? How do you write good chapters while having no serious conflict? Any ways to decide who or who not to put in these kind of chapters in a story about the mane 6 aka putting all of them seems like too much but general advice on who to pick? Any advice would be great y'all don't have to answer all of the questions but a few pointers would be just the best!
Idris 241 September 20, 2015 Share September 20, 2015 I like to ramp it up as I go. I hadn't really thought of charector-building in a boring chapter. It seems odd to me? I do a bit as it goes along to fill out a scenario and the charectors develop as they interact and joke. I guess even if they arn't in some mad situation they are larking about doing something in mine. So I would think the dud chapter needs humour?
