If you have been listening to Football (Soccer to Americans) news in the UK lately, you will most likely have heard about the 'Edinburgh Derby' Scottish Cup Final taking place on the 19th of May. If not, I'll fill you in on the situation:

Two semi-final matches took place at Hampden Park on the 14th and 15th of April. The first match was Hibs vs Aberdeen, which ended being a Hibs victory (2-1), despite Aberdeen's fabulous wonder goal. The second match was Hearts vs Celtic, which Hearts won (2-1) against all odds, as Celtic were favourites to win both the match and the cup.

These results brung Edinburgh to the spot-light of Scottish Football and there has been a very big debate taking place. This debate is about where this Final will take place. It usually takes place at Hampden Park, the home of the Scotland National Football Team, but since both of Edinburgh's top teams wil be playing in this finale, people have been suggesting that it should be played at Murrayfield Stadium, home of the Scotland National Rugby Team. The SFA (Scottish Football Association(The guys who control Football in Scotland)) have disclosed this case and have stated that it will be played at Hampden, but now the Edinburgh council has gotten involved. They have said that it should be decided by the fans, so the SFA have given it a second looking.

Now, I'm here to ask you all where YOU think it should take place. Although there aren't many people here from Scotland (or even interested in Football!), I'll try my best to describe each stadium to a point where you can make a rough decision.

Hampden Park

The home ground of Scotland's national Football team. Under most circumstances, this is where the Scottish Cup Semi-Finals and Finals take place. It has a capacity of 52,000 and is located in the Southern area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is known for the fiery atmosphere in National matches and has held many different events.

Murrayfield Stadium

The home ground of Scotland's national Rugby team. Not much Football takes place here, as it has a whopping capacity of 67,000. It is located in the Western area of Edinburgh and is named after the place it is located in, Murrayfield.

And a little bonus question: Who do you want to win this match? It may seem hard to answer this because you probably have never heard of these teams, but as I did before, I'll describe each team to help with your decision.

Heart of Midlothian

Heart of Midlothian FC (commonly known as Hearts) are a Football team from Edinburgh. They were formed back in 1874, making them one of the oldest Football teams in history. The name of their stadium is Tynecastle Stadium in Gorgie. Out of all 306 competitive meetings between Hearts and Hibs, Hearts have the advantage with 136 wins to 85 losses (the rest being draws). The last time Hearts won the Scottish Cup was in 2006, with a 1-1 result against Gretna, which was decided by penalties.

Hibernian

Hibernian FC (commonly known as Hibs) are also a Football team from Edinburgh. They were formed in 1875, a year after their local rivals, and play their home matches at Easter Road in Leith. As proven above, Hibs have lost more Edinburgh Derbies than Hearts, and unbelievably, they haven't won the Scottish Cup since 1902!

And to add a little more, the last time these two faced each other in the Scottish Cup Final was back in 1896, where Hearts triumphed 3-1. The last time they faced each other in any Scottish Cup match was back in 2006, where Hearts thrashed Hibs 4-0 thanks to a Hat-Trick from Paul Hartley.

Please be nice if you wish to reply! And if you think this post was pointless, just ignore it, k?

I'm unsure on where I think this game should be played. Part of me thinks that as the venue where the Scottish Cup Final has always been played, Hampden is the best option for the game. I don't think it's any different from the recent Liverpool Vs Everton game at Wembley and there were no calls for it to be played someone nearer Liverpool, such as Old Trafford. Glasgow isn't that far from Edinburgh anyway - it normally takes around an hour to get there, although with 50,000 fans travelling, it could be longer.

The other part of me thinks that it's unnecessary for the fans to have to travel to Glasgow or the game if it's possible for it be played at Murrayfield, which would also allow more fans to see the game.

As for who I want to win, I'm not overly bothered, but my mum is a Hearts fan, so I'm supporting them.
