Hooligan walked along a path quietly humming a song to himself.

"Hey Hooligan," said the voice in his head, "where are we going?"

"No where special," replied Hooligan, "just a dark magic potion type store."

"Oh okay." Hooligan continued to walk for a bit, "wait why are we going there? Your not trying to go sane are you?"

"Of course not. I'm going there to find a potion that will turn money into pickles."

"Oh that makes more sense."

Hooligan began to run, "now come on, we wanna get there before the shop closes." Hooligan continued to run towards the store in silence.

"No ponies here, as usual" she sighed as she walked to the door to close up "at least I can try my new recipes now...not like any pony would buy it but I made it all the same" she looked out the door and saw a weird looking pony with no eyes running to here. (Maybe he's friendly?) She doubted herself a little as she just looked at him running towards her.

Hooligan saw a mare at the door of the store, "excellent," he said, "it's still open." Hooligan rushed past the mare and straight into the store. He looked frantically on all the selves for the potion he was looking for. Unable to find it he asked the mare, who he assumed was the store clerk. "Hey," he said without turning his head towards her, "you got anything pickle related?"

"no, I never thought of it...I do have a potion that makes taste more vibrant, it what I use it for when I have a almost flavorless thing" she paused for a moment and looked at the mask wearing pony "why...why do you look like that, that is if you don't mind me asking" she didn't want to be rude to this pony and his weird look

Hooligan stopped as he was picking up one of the potions on the self. "I actually do mind. I wear this because I feel like it," said Hooligan as he began to turn around to face the mare, "I mean how would you like it if I asked you about your.." Hooligan stopped when he got a look at the mare. Suddenly the world seemed to be in a daze. Hooligan tried to form words but his mouth was uncooperative.

"Come on Hooligan say something," said the voice in his head.

Hooligan tried but for the first time in years, he was speechless. Hooligan suddenly realised how long he had stood there I silence and began to panic. Without hesitation he dropped the potion and teleported back to his home.

"What the hell happened back there?" asked the voice in his head.

"I don't know," replied Hooligan, "but if my hunch is correct, then I think I'm in love."

"Well...that happened" she was a little in shock from what just happened, he looks at her with what she assumed to be a longing look. You know it could have been lustful, or angry, sad, really anything could be under that mask. She thought to herself, stop thinking like that, it always payed to be positive...even in a negative situation. She counters herself then closes the shop, maybe some brewing and sleep will calm me, you know you will be thinking about him though.

 

(PS, the doubting voice was in the other RPs I have done with Dark but haven't put it in her personality...so I guess she is a little insane)

"Love!" shouted the voice in Hooligan's head, "you can't be in love you're a sociopath."

"That I am," said Hooligan as he frantically searched around his hideout, "but I'm also a psychiatrist and I know what love is."

The voice in Hooligan's head sighed, "fine what are we gonna do about it then?"

"Well firstly," said Hooligan as he found the bunch of flowers and paper he was searching for, "I'm gonna apologise." Hooligan took out a pen and wrote on the piece of paper. When he was finished he read over the note to make sure it sounded right.

 

The note read:

Dear mysterious mare who owns the Dark Arts Potion Store,

I am sorry for my rude attitude this afternoon. I over reacted to you asking about my appearance. Although I am sensitive about my appearance I should not have reacted as I did. Please let me make it up to you by allowing me to buy you lunch from Sugar Cube Corner tomorrow. If you are still curious about my appearance I would be happy to share.

From Hooligan.

 

Ps. I'm also sorry about dropping that potion.

 

Hooligan smiled as he attached the note to the flowers.

"It's never gonna work," said the voice in his head.
"Don't be such a pessimist," replied Hooligan. He grabbed the flowers and teleported back into the store. He looked around but didn't see the shop clerk. So Hooligan left the flowers on the counter and teleported back to his hideout. "Now," said Hooligan as he began to get ready for bed, "we wait."

After cleaning the potion and going in the back room she emerged a few minutes later to make sure the potion didn't stain the wood of her shop permanently as it was know to do that in her tests when she found the letter and flowers. Well I think that means he likes me...and it means I really want to know more about him with his whole...whole what? A probably deformed part of his face that he hides from ponies so they won't make fun of him? I mean he has enough to worry about with the whole crazy thing from how he talks, so why add to the fire? Celestia, well you shut up? But I'm you. A bad part of me that I don't want to come out again, which I know won't happen but I'm sticking with my feelings. She took the flowers "these can probably be made into a potion anyway so it's not really bad...to bad I have to research it now" she says to herself then walks into the back room to do her usual

The next morning Hooligan made his way to Sugar Cube Corner. "I can't believe you apologised." said the voice in Hooligan's head.

"Neither can I," replied Hooligan happily, "it's quite exhilarating."

"That's not my point. This isn't you. You should be blowing something up not walking to a date."

"This isn't a date, it's an apologetic meeting."

"What ever, just don't blame me when she doesn't show up."

Hooligan ignored the comment and took a seat at one of the booths in Sugar Cube Corner. There he sat, hoping and waiting that the mysterious mare would turn up.

The whole way there Dark was getting pestered by her pessimistic thoughts, psychopath, insane, murderous, things I don't even want to mention him being could all happen you know? Look I'm almost there, you cant stop me. She looks at the inside of Sugar Cube Corner and sees the stallion almost instantly because of the way he looked...and the empty tables around him. She approached him as her mind told her that she was trapped now and had to go on this date with him "hello, you wanted to see me to apologize right? Well I'm here and already getting dirtier looks than normal by standing next to you" she looks a filly that looks at her then looks away hoping nothing would happen to her from the 'Dark unicorn' or so they called her

"Yeah, that'll happen," said Hooligan politely, "bright purple really isn't known for its subtlety." Hooligan grinned under his mask. She was even prettier than he remembered.

"What do you know? She actually turned up," said the voice in his head.

(Told you,) Hooligan thought to the voice in his head.

"I bet you she won't stay long though."

Hooligan looked at the mysterious mare, "you are correct, I did want to apologise you. But first could I possibly have the plessure of learning your name?"

"Dark Shine, ponies call me the Dark Unicorn because of my skills but I know there just scared of the unknown and unusual, that's why I don't blame them for hating me...they will understand someday" she said then looked at Hooligan "I'm sorry I rambled on" she rubbed her head and sat down at the table "what's your name?"

"That's a very beautiful name you have Dark Shine." said Hooligan politely.

"No it's not," said the voice in Hooligan head.

"Shut up would ya," Hooligan said to himself quietly to himself. He turned back to Dark Shine and smiled. "my name is Hooligan. Just Hooligan." Hooligan picked up one of the menus from the table and began reading it, "now that we have gotten the pleasantries out of the way," Hooligan said to Dark Shine, "I think we should eat. I did invite you here for lunch, so order whatever you like."

"I'm not much for stuff like MMM or something but I like how they serve pancakes here as it is a desert in some parts of equestria" she smiled and instantly found the pancakes "I'm going to have three with syrup and blueberry's" she smiled showing him the cost "what kind of sweets do you like?"

Hooligan shrugged, "I don't really have a preference. As long as it's covered in sugar I'm happy." Hooligan stood up from the table, "I'll be back in a minute." Hooligan walked up to the counter and ordered three pancake with syrup and blueberries for Dark Shine and he got himself a sundae. He soon returned to table carrying the food and sat down. He slowly pulled up the lower part of his mask, revealing burnt skin and an unnaturally wide grin. Hooligan began to eat when he remembered he was with company. He looked up at Dark Shine, "you know if this," he said gesturing to his disfigured muzzle, "is putting you off, I can pull my mask back down."

She looked at the muzzle "h...how did that happen? When did that happen?" She asked thinking of what could have happened "I mean no offense but it looks awful, do you think it could go away? I have potions that heal living things...wait that would be newly injured things, I bet I could make one that gets rid of scars" she got carried away

Hooligan smiled sadly as he pulled down his mask, "no offense taken," said Hooligan, "I know it looks awful. But you don't have to make a cure for it. Because I wouldn't want it. These scars are part of me." Hooligan sighed.

"You're not actually considering telling her about the incident are you?"

"Long ago," said Hooligan to Dark Shine, "I was a psychiatrist at the Ponyville Mental Institution. I won't go in to all the details, but one day a colleague of mine ask me to test out a new spell he was working on. He said it would revolutionise modern day psychiatry. Sadly it didn't all go as planned. The spell caused an explosion. It left me scared, both physically and mentally. It also left me quite insane. So you see I can't get rid of these scars. Because beneath these scars is the face of the stallion I used to be . And that stallion is long since dead." Hooligan got up and began to leave, "I think this was a mistake." Normally Hooligan would have just teleported, but deep down he hoped that Dark Shine would ask him to stay.

Dark thought for a second about what he what he said "it not a mistake, I appreciate you trying to apologize and telling me about what happened...in my opinion, what you said is invalid" she got up from the table to Hooligan "what I mean it, you don't seem to be insane to me. I mean you may be a little weird but how isn't nowadays?" She said with a smile "you can leave if you want to but I still have pancakes over there" she chuckles and sits back down at the table waiting for Hooligan to make his decision

Hooligan smiled as he sat back down at the table across from Dark Shine, "I suppose I'll stay. If you insist." Hooligan almost couldn't believe it. For once somepony actually wanted him to stay. "and I know I don't seam insane at the moment but trust me I am. I'm a sociopath, a pyromaniac, heck I even have a voice in my head,"

"Hello, "said the voice in Hooligan's head.

"He says hi by the way. But enough about me. Tell me about yourself."

"1. You have to convince me about the whole sociopath thing. 2. I think I have a book at my shop that I have left unattended that can let me read and communicate with minds. 3. Ok I'll tell you about myself" she thought for a second "I come from my father how is a great wizard, and my mother how used to own the shop that I have now but it was only for normal restaurant stuff. I also have a few friends, not a lot but one is a thief that wants to fix his ways...I wonder how he is doing" she looked at him "do you want to know something about me?"

"Firstly, if you don't want to see a puppy thrown down a well then you're gonna just have to trust me about being a sociopath. Secondly, while it probably be cool for you to directly talk to the voice in my head it'd probably just be easier for me to translate what he says. And finally," said Hooligan taking a deep breath, "I would love to know something about you. As long as it's not that you're beautiful, because I already know that."

"Please tell me you didn't just say that out loud." said the voice in his head.

"I...I meant if these was anything specific that you wanted to know but I love your compliment" she smiled not truly getting it "well if you want to know more, I have a ton of potions that I work on and sell at my shop which gets a little less attention than I think it should from how hard I work...I have also had it up to here with kids coming in to my shop asking for me to revive a dead animal" she raised her hoof over her head "the whole necromancer thing is stupid and I thought ponies would learn from Zecora but I guess if the elements of harmony haven't disproved it, ponies will gladly treat you like a monster" she sighed "I cant get to angry as I still love my life though, with my friends, family, and Luna"

"I think I know how you feel," said Hooligan glumly, "being treating like a monster, I mean. You're lucky you have friends. Or at least I assume you're lucky. I wouldn't know, I don't have any friends." Hooligan sat in silence for a while until the voice in his head spoke up.

"Wait! Did she say Luna?" the voice in his head said.

"Wait! Did you say Luna? As in Princess Luna?"

"yes, I don't know her personally but I love that shes always looking over us" she takes a bite of her pancakes and swallows it "of course I know that all the princesses look over us but I think out of all of those princesses, that Luna would be the one to support the magic I do" she smiled at him "if some day I got to be by her side somehow, I would love every moment of my life from then on"

Hooligan smiled as a wild thought entered his head.

"Stop," said the voice in his head, "I know what you're thinking and you need to stop thinking about it."

"Hey Dark Shine," said Hooligan, "what would you say if I told you.."

"Stop," interrupted the voice in Hooligan's head, "if you go through with this you'll pass up our one get out of jail free card."

Hooligan ignored the voice in his head and continued, "that I knew someone who owed me a favour. The type of favour that could, for example, arrange a meeting between you and Princess Luna."
