I guess I might as well post the two latest peices that I have let see the light of day.

But be warned: I sat on most of my music for over a year unreleased, so it ain't gonna be pretty o3o

I made this remix for an album ro thing. I did not make it, but whatevs. There's a picture of Rarity on it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4dHg5k7xpGQ

The remix: It's okay...the one thing that it lacks is variance. You need to change up those rhythms. They become very stale and bland after a while.

Your original: I see you were working around c minor, and included a four-chord progression, which was

i-VII-III-vi

The thing is, you repeated that progression too much. It was literally the base of your song. Kudos to having a four-chord progression, but you actually have 23 other ways you can order these chords. Think about factorials, that is, if you've studied them. But perhaps also use a progression that has a V in it?

Here are some alternate suggestions.

i-VII-VI-iv

i-III-VII-iv

i-VI-VII-V

i-III-iv-V

VI-VII-i-vi

iv-VII-VII-V

There are many more suggestions that I could give, but that would take up a lot of space.

Also, I honestly would not start with a percussive beat. Why not start with some plucked synth bass lead running around a Cm7, or simply a c minor chord with the 7th note of the scale, which is Bb, along with the notes of a c minor triad. Run all this through a filter. Because house music usually has 8 bars to a phrase, why not start sweeping it out of the filter on the 5th bar. Around the 7th bar, speed up the sweep and add a snare that starts out with 16ths, then goes to 32 notes and finally 64ths. After a quick cut on the 4th beat of the 8th bar of the current phrase, bring in everything, sawtooths, main percussion and backup synths. This way, your piece can have some flavor in it, instead of it being so stale.

I'm here if you have any questions about what I explained.

I have questions about what language you were speaking, but I get the gist of it : )

I really appreciate your feedback. I am by no means good at music, but I definitely try to do things differently and better every time.

Can I even say feedback? That was the most impressive and constructive criticism I've ever received in my life, and it wa fantastic! Nothing is better than having all you've worked to make get torn to shreds in order to help for the future~

As I said, this is over a year old. Maybe. I don't even know. The repetitivety still makes me cringe, but I had to release the thing eventually. I am still teaching myself all about music theory, so it'll be a while before I get anything of legit and proper quality out. (Yes. Teaching myself. Everything. I refuse to use any courses or books for anything music related. It's plenty more fun to find things out on my own and learn from mistakes like that.)

I'm also still using an iPad. -9000pts in mixing/mastering.

Either way, I'll be sure to keep all you've said in mind! Thank you oh-so very much~

Hey, I'll be glad to tutor you in music theory.

Despite being as set as I am in my 'do it yourself' musical education, I could not turn down this offer after such honest, blatant, constructive, helpful criticism.

I would be honored, Sensei C!

Yes!

Wait-- One thing first! Have you ever seen Kung-Fu Panda? Because even with all my experience with music, we should just start with level zero xP

Go ahead; my body is ready. (I'm gonna kill myself for making that joke...)
