Toyline exclusives featured in the series?

We all know little ponies originated with the toyline, and the animated series after, to promote the toys. And across the generations, there have always been some ponies from the toyline who never make it onto the series. (Let's call them " no shows")

 

Through gen 4 (FiM's era), there have been a few "no shows". Namely, Skyla, Star Dreams, the two other alicorns, Princess Gold Lily, Princess Sterling, and the two rereleases from past gens, Minty and Skywishes. Think we'll ever see these no shows in the show? Can you think of an episode sypnoses where they might be introduced?

 

I've sort of been hoping for Star Dreams to make an episode appearrance for some time now, as some blood relative to the royal sisters, Sunbutt and Luna. I think she has some significance, since she's been released in packging alongside Dash and Rarity, in one, Apple jack in another, and appeared in packaging and boxart of the CMC and their classmates, in the third instance.

 

With the CMC having gotten their cutie marks, and a whole new chapter of things open to them, I can see Star Dreams being introduced as a new member (since she's a blank flank), and possibly a pony uninterested in getting her mark (since content with being blank and still having a productive life isn't really explored), but still wants to help ponies discover the meaning of theirs, with the CMC.

 

Or an episode where Gold Lily and Sterling are introduced, perhaps seen discussing things with the Saddle Arabia delegates from before and Twilight hears about the other alicorns, freaks out, and starts questioning Sunbutt on where they came from, which gives us some much needed exposition on the whereabouts of other alicorns (that were only barely referenced in the Journal of the two sisters)

 

What are others' ideas for episodes with the few toyline exclusive, episode "no shows"; Skyla, Star Dreams, Princess Sterling, Princess Gold Lily (and former gen transfer Ponies, Sky Wishes, and Minty)?

Ever since playing Dragon-Mango's Fresh Minty Adventure I've been jonesing to see Minty appear in the show.  

 

She really doesn't need any big setup to appear though.  Just pop up in a scene, maybe being introduced as someone from Ponyville who's "been away" for a while.  It'd be true in a sense; Minty has been away from the show since G3 right?  

 

Hasbro owns the rights to produce her likeness in a toy and there's already G4 artwork of her so it's a no-brainer if you ask me.  There's no reason Minty shouldn't be a part of the current character roster.  Sadly it seems like Hasbro doesn't have a good enough reason for her to be included either.

we'vwe've seen so many Ponyville celebrations, and like zero Canterlot, Appleoosa, Manehattan, Clousdle, or Canterlot ones. DHX could easily throw Minty in the background, wih her first appearance, showing her helping - or failing, rather- with setting up the preparations, much like Derpy's "last roundup scene". Maybe Minty causes some decoration X to fall, and whoever from the mane 6 is there at the time, just stop talking and glance at the commotion, distracted by it, just as an upset Minty runs offscreen.

Hasbro could have plenty of reason. If they want money, they could toss another marketable pony in the mix. They did it with Coco, and she's slowly getting more merch. And look at how many new characters were thrown in in season 5.

Skyla "kind of" appeared in that she was announced to exist with Cadence being preggers.

Can't really have her pop out a baby right then and there, can you? XD
 

Give it till next season, we'll get Cadence's kid being born, I guarantee it.

I don't understand. It's not confirmed if Skyla is the baby Cadance is going to have, so she can't have "kind of" appeared, yet
