much as I hate to admit it, yo do make a good point....so, then who or what do you think we might see act as a true force of disharmony, rather than disorder, to te Tree, if not Discord?

Or would you just want lore in general on the Tree, without its polar opposite being revealed?

Well, I kind of feel neutral on it as I feel that while its not a bad plot idea (An evil opposite to the tree of harmony), its not something that I specifically would 100% want compared to other possible villains.

Overall, I'd rather they just focus on giving the tree a backstory without delving into it having an evil opposite, yeah? There's plenty of villains and ways to have conflicts WITHOUT making it opposed by something.

That being said, if they WERE to have an evil opposite,  I feel it would work best as a conglomeration of the Opposites of the EOH that's abilities or plans were to essentially cause ponies to be overcome by its negative vices, such as Deceit, Cruelty, betrayal, greed, ect. all things that would serve to cause disharmony between others.

ToH lore expansion sound like a great idea to me.  Of course, everyone already knows my headcanon, right?  The tree, the elements, and the map are all part of a magical Daemon designed by Starswirl that has been running since his death.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daemon_%28novel_series%29

Starswirl designed the Daemon to respond in certain ways to specific world events, giving it the illusion of sentience, where none really exists.

Discord, The Tree of Harmony, Celestia and Luna, hell even Starswirl to an extent are the oldest parts of the known G4 universe. I'd love nothing more than to learn more about them all.

fingers crossed DHX can give them each a season of lore

the Journal of the two sistrs kinda already explains that Starswirl had to study the tree, and the cutie marks on it were unknown meaning to him, until he developed a time travel spell, and saw the ponies with the marks on the tree, in the future. (If he crete the tree and elements, he would've already known everything about it)

I know, I read the journal.  Maybe he just made the map.  But hey, I never said my headcanon was airtight.  It's got so many logic holes it's like a piece of Swiss cheese!  But it's still cool, and I like to go with it because it makes more sense than the truth imo.  And plus I sort of have an ethical dilemma surrounding the cutie map and the way it operates, and my headcanon makes me feel slightly better about it.  I know, kinda dumb, but it's just for fun anyway.

Gotta wonder, with the season 6 theme being Eqploring Equestria, if the writers will throw in some backstory on the Tree, which is the most important thing in Equestria.

Also: theory-

If the ToH is sentient, which its been shown to be, then are the elements we've seen on it, actually more like its children, and does it produce new "offspring", whenever it the old generation of elements "die"/ when their power can no longer sustain the tree/ parent, and in turn, power can no longer be supplied to the elements by the source? Like actual seeds, but with a two way exchange of power/nourishment between offspring and parent, I wonder?
