Guest April 15, 2016 Share April 15, 2016 (edited) How this sport would work and what everypony's general opinion of the sport from the comic. I found the sport interesting and I'm pretty sure that this is the My little Pony version of football and I hope they might mention it in the show or make an episode about it. This is how Gilda explains it, "Each team has their own goal at the end of the field and their own ball. Either you run with the other team's ball or you stop the other team from running with yours. The team who gets the other team's ball across the goal the most number of times wins. A Boffypuff is the ball, a small furry animal who is a member of the team who scolds you if you mess up. There are seven players on the field for each team and there are back ups." There was also a mention of some maneuvers called a "Pileblitz" and a "Blitzpile" What do you guys think about it? weesh 690 April 18, 2016 Share April 18, 2016 (edited) as far as made up spots go, I've seen way worse. For instance, quiddich is like 99% plot device, and 1% sport. Boffyball was not a GOOD sport...but is was still mostly sport. The boffyballs were kinda cute, and the final outcome was fine. I hate sports stories where a dysfunctional team wins the whole thing. it makes no sense. the whole "hey we actually got a point!" thing meant that the sport was sufficiently skill based that the griffons had no realistic chance, but sufficiently luck based that it was possible for the far inferior team to score. That is about where you want to be. I think the mechanics of having small teams and two balls, only one of which a team can use to score is both interesting, and probably problematic. in real life, you could get teams getting ahead, and then hogging the hell out of the opponents ball, which would be intensely unsatisfying to watch and play. However, the most important part of the game was this:it didn't matter, and it didn't distract. the writer managed to create a game that could move the plot forward without making you think: "what?!" like quiddich does. So it was fine. Edit: its a pretty violent game. i'm really not a fan of any sport that creates that level and frequency of injury. when you are getting hit that hard and there is zero safety gear, there is lots of concussion potential. it appears that you can just tackle the hell out of the other competitors, even if you are 10 times their mass. That is probably the only thing that is just completely off-putting. Edited April 18, 2016 by weesh Send me pictures of ponies in hoodies
