Marcusaralius76 150 May 7, 2012 Share May 7, 2012 I came up with a fanfic a few weeks ago with nearly one hundred pages of writing and I only recently thought of finding a reader to judge my work. I need to know if anything I write is confusing/out of place/better placed elsewhere/overdone. My grammar is more than proficient, so I am more looking for one to judge my writing style and clarity. For anyone interested, I do not have a title for it yet. My writing style generally follows that of whatever book I am reading at the time. When I started, I was reading JRR Tolkien's "The Hobbit." After finishing, I started reading "A Clash of Kings" by RR Martin. The problem with this is that my writing style drastically changed between the first, second, and third chapters. Consistency is generally important in writing, and I am not much of a judge of my own work. Is anyone interested in being a beta reader before I post it on the internet? TeganGibby 14 May 7, 2012 Share May 7, 2012 Care to give us more information about this fanfic before we say yes? I would probably read it eventually; I'm a fast enough reader. I couldn't guarantee extremely quick results, but I would get you feedback. Marcusaralius76 150 May 7, 2012 Author Share May 7, 2012 Care to give us more information about this fanfic before we say yes? I would probably read it eventually; I'm a fast enough reader. I couldn't guarantee extremely quick results, but I would get you feedback. I do not want to say too much about what will be going on, but I can say this;In the opening, there are two main plot lines. One follows the story of an elderly shop owner (a general representation of who I aspire to become) and his landlord (a representation of who I am afraid I would become). One wants a calm life, while the other wishes to make a profit. The other plot line is about the ManeSix being sent on a mission by the princess to locate an explorer who traveled beyond the boundaries of Equestria. Originally, the two storylines were meant to go on side-by-side with an overarching moral for all of them to learn. However, it has changed so that the stories merge in a way similar to several other Fanfics. The time before the merge is more focused on action and adventure, to keep and build reader interest, while the aftermath is more dramatic and thought-inducing. A fair chunk of it - as I'm planning it - will be the M6 trying to adapt to our society as they try to find a way home. I think that's all I'll be able to say for now without giving away everything.
