Ponies out of place?

Has anyone ever gotten a pony, whether an old or new character, pony from a different generation, or simply a variant color of pre-existing character ponies, only to put it in your collection, and feel that they seem out of place?

 

For example, I like acquiring Pinkie Pie and Sunset Shimmer merchandise, and have a special shelf for them. I keep them grouped by color, Sunset on her side, and Pinkie on the other. I was happy that I got a golden colored Pinkie figure (1 in 24) from a series of blind bags, but when I took her home and put her with the mirror pool Pinkies, she seemed out of place....like she belonged on the golden-colored Sunset side of the shelf, which made me sad. Golden Pinkie stick out like a sore hoof amongst her pink clones.

 

Has anyone ever experienced such a conundrum?
