Forsaken of the Everfree 1x1 with Maple Bat

"Th.. That's rather interesting." Maple said never heard of something like that before. "Very well I'll allow you to use it but only with me watching you closely I really don't want anything happening to ya kid. I've seen to many slip into insanity all to easily." Sunny came over blood on his claw from that changeling. Maple's adrenaline wore out and she feel over feeling all the pain that magical bolt had left in her already once wounded side. She was conscious but couldn't stand up any longer.

"Here let me help." he said as he levitated Maple on Sunny's back.

"We should head back to the place." he said as he walked back to there.

He seemed to look a bit different in the eyes, tough it was not a big change.

"Thanks." Maple said "maybe I should be less worried about your dark magic and be more worried about myself I've been severely injured 3 times now I'm sorry you have to see me like this " She smiled at him something she doesn't do often. She's normally very cheery but she only ever smiles slightly. When she smiles you can see her fangs at full size something that normally scares ponies off but she knew this one she could trust. She fell asleep again on Sunnys back on the way to the Chaos playground.

When they arrived Jack teleported into a tree and stayed in there.

He put his hood back over his head as he closed his eyes, shielding himself off from everything.

He had a depressed look on his face.

Maple woke a few hours later started to stretch but hurt herself in the process, she got up and realized Jack wasn't anywhere She could see. She panicked She about to call out his name but this time She knew he'd be safe. Her stomach growled She imagined Jack would be hungry too. She reached into her bag and pulled out an apple and started to "Drink" it as she always does, eating it gave her less nutritional value anyways. She still had a few Apples but not a whole bunch. She knew some tree around here grew them but who knows what could be wrong with those. She sighed beginning to regret yelling at Jack. What if he ran off because she scared him or he hated her now. She knew he'd stick around at least until they got out of this stupid forest.

Jack eventually noticed Maple walking outside.

He teleported back to the ground and walked up to her.

"I just really want to get out of this forest as fast as possible, we have been walking for so long and it's just starting to plague, especially with everything that has been happening."

He said as he sighed.

Maple heard his voice and tossed an apple towards him "Here, I'd like to get out too. But we best rest out minds and bodies here the only safe place in the forest" She restated "We'll get of here after that alright?" She grunted because her side hurt her again. She remember her promise she made to her self she was going to get jack out of here even if it cost her everything.

He catches the apple with his magic and took a bite "Thanks."

"I hope so, all this walking trough the forest has given me the creeping feeling that we are walking in circles, it's driving me crazy."

He said as he was devoid of all emotion.

Maple shrugged that idea off. "If we where walking in circles then we wouldn't have found this place." She said looking at the area "But however that doesn't exactly mean we're heading the right way.."

Jack's eyes started to tear up as he looked away.

"And we then end up walking for another few days, perhaps even weeks!"

He said as he planted his face into the dirt.

"It is no use anymore, i don't want to spend more days walking, i want to get out of this forest!" he said as he choked on his words.

"Well you don't have to walk." She said a bit sarcastically "Sunny or myself could carry you. and I can fly as well. The matter is how long getting out of here will take." She stood up after a bit and looked over at the sun. I think it's this way.

"Right,  i apologize for all this sappy nonsense i am giving you, but i am just not very used to having danger constantly around me."

"You are a trained soldier, but i am just a colt, i was never made to fight."

He said while sighing.

[Maple Bat 3,568]

"Hey. Don't worry kid. I used to be scared of the forest even while I was a soldier but now I have to be brave for your sake." Maple explained "It's for your benifit that I'm not afraid of anything the forest throws at us. Also you've got to be the most talented unicorn colt I've ever met, You've already figured out how to use Dark magic and hopefully control it." She tried to encourage the colt but she wasn't sure it was working she saw a large boulder and decided to pick it up with her hind hooves while doing a handstand with her front hooves. She struggled with getting it to go up and once it was there. She didn't hold it long before dropping it. After that she laid on the ground panting. "That... By the way... is why my... my kick is so strong."

"Heh, is pretty awesome." he said with a smile.

"Watch this." as he levitated the rock into the air.

He used his magic to cut out parts of rock, creating a small stone dagger-like object.

It levitated back to him as he held the object in his mouth.

He then stood on his hind hooves and made a movement in such a way where he swung the object straight from his mouth towards one of the tree's, the sharp point penetrating the front part of the tree with a tiny crack in the wood itself.

Maple was still tired from lifting it but was still impressed "Nice... Useful you can throw a dagger... just in case something isn't affected by your magic... I normally carry a few in my bag but I used those already." Sunny was watch them but he saw a timber wolf over in the play ground and chased after it.

"Hey, I have a plan, how about you rest up as much as you can but once we are ready we get the heck out of this forest? While we may be strong togheter our luck won't be lasting forever, I don't need to be a trained soldier to know that." Jack suggested.

 

[Maple Bat 3,568]

"Yea sounds good." She said standing up "Sunny can protect us so we can both get some sleep. It'll feel great trust me. We have real mattress up there and everything." Sunny showed back up after beating that timber wolf grinning as Maple went into the tree house.

Jack nodded as he went in the tree house.

A question seemed to form in his mind.

"Maple, if we manage to escape from the everfree forest, what are we going to do next? Are we going to Canterlot?" he asked

[Maple Bat 3,568]

"Well yea that's where your orphanage is right?" Maple said "I need to head there to adopt you after all." She said referencing what she had said earlier. She laid down in one of the 2 beds and quickly feel asleep.

Jack nodded and he closed his eyes, falling asleep eventually.

 

 

It was around 8 hours later that he woke up, deciding not wanting to wake Maple yet he quietly walked outside as the sun was blinding in his eyes.

Even though Jack tried to not wake Maple her hearing being so sharp his quiet steps still woke her. "Mornin'" She said stirring "Ready to head out of this stupid forest." She got up and looked at her wounds the first one across her shoulder had completely healed but the scar along her side under her wing had been reopened by that changeling magic bolt it didn't hurt anymore but at least she could cover it with her wing.

"Good morning." he answered back.

"I am ready." he said with a smile.

"If things get really tense, I can always teleport us both further ahead towards our objective, that way we can get out of this forest a lot faster." he suggested.

"That statement implies you know which way we're going." Maple laughed "Wait... Do you?" Sunny came over and Maple started petting him. "Alright sunny thank you for your service thus far we still need to get home and I'd like if you accompanied us." The manticore nodded at Maple "Alright. Ready?" She asked Jack.

"I don't exactly know where we are going, but my teleportation doesn''t always rely on the knowledge of a location, somethimes i just transport the target in the direction that is needed." he said.

"And i am ready." he said.

"Alright then lets go." Maple said as she finished filling a few canteens she had with the water from the spring near "would you prefer I carry you or are you walking? It doesn't make a difference to me before you ask." She flew up above the tree layer, looked around in the air for a second before a lighting bolt almost hit her and she quickly dropped down to the ground.
