Is the formula for EG working?

The "new girl becomes corrupted by Equestrian magic, and wreaks havok" formula has been done for Sunset Shimmer, the Sirens, SciTwi, Gloriosa Daisy, and Juniper Montage. Its becoming tiresome and has long since been predictable. Do you feel that this is going to continue in future EG content? Where is all of this leading, if anywhere? If given a television series, can EG keep using this same, tired formula that they use for the movies and specials, and expect it to take off?

The problem for this sort of formula is that you need SOME sort of purpose behind these actions; You can't just have "Oh, this is just something that randomly happens" or its hard for the audience to feel invested in it.

Like in Other magical girl series where characters get corrupted into a monster and the heroes have to defeat them, there's usually a single intelligent entity behind the disturbances or trying to capitalize on the disturbances. We desire a "villain" of sorts, rather than just a natural disaster.

This is the big issue in the Latest shorts. They gave no weight or focus on Juniper getting a magical mirror and becoming corrupted, it just "Happens". This is a big issue for me in starlight's role in this, in that the situation SHOULD have been an examination of magic still entering the human world and a real "reason" for the mane six having super powers being focused on, with a promise or hint at bigger things to come. Instead, it ended up just being Filler, essentially, so we could see an EQG starlight.

that's fine in the middle of a series and all that, but this is when they need to be laying the GROUNDWORK for a new series, and should have instead focused on the magic corruption and its future threat.
