Z.J.A. 136 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 So maybe you've seen past posts about how I want to do a MLP stop motion animation. The first thing I need is poseable ponies. Anyone got any ideas for this? Anyone know where I can buy some that look cannon? I'm also gonna go do some research about making poseable creatures outside the pony world, so if you're just gonna tell me to google it, believe me...I will be "googling it" extensively. If you want me to respond, please quote me. I apologize for any inconvenience but for the time being my MLP stop motion project is on hold. Laydee Kaze 400 May 15, 2012 Share May 15, 2012 Just use clay/dough with wire armature within... y'know, like Wallace and Gromit. 1 Deviantart
Z.J.A. 136 May 15, 2012 Author Share May 15, 2012 I've used clay in the past and issue is that it isn't so stable. Also, wire tends to poke through, so then tinfoil must be added on top and it isn't flexible enough. But thanks for the idea. Bunny_San 103 May 19, 2012 Share May 19, 2012 The closest thing to poseable that Hasbro has produced is the Shine Bright series of ponies. They are the mane six, but don't look very "Canon" as you say though, as their wings/horns/saddles are not the same color as their bodies, and will glow red when a button is pushed on their back, which is not removable. Their legs however are moveable and their heads turn side to side. Making custom ponies is a HARD thing to do, and to my knowledge, no one has yet made a jointed pony that allowed for movement. Sorry I don't have better news :

Actually, that's not a bad idea. Rubber latex with a light gauge wire frame skeleton would probably work. Just wrap the ends of the wire in duct tape so they aren't pokey. But if you're getting into rubber latex, that means you're getting into creating molds, which can be a challenge in and of itself. : I would try the clay again, but just try a lighter gauge wire, wrapping the ends, and thicker layers of clay. Or maybe some kind of foam? Like what they make muppets out of? Hmm...
