  1. First off, anyone, including myself is entitled to their feelings. So THERE. If I'm upset, I'm just going to be upset, deal. As far as the merch for older fans go, you have to learn a lesson in the magic of licensing. Hasbro didn't make those cool shoulder bags, a great website, www.welovefine.com and a fabulous team of artists is responsible for that. Hasbro? Not a hand. The vinyl figures of Dr. Whooves, Derpy, and RD? Funco. And Customs? Please dearie. I've been fixing Hasbro's toy mistakes with my own customs probably since before you've even known ponies existed. Just because I CAN make quality customs on my own doesn't mean that I wouldn't like to see Hasbro make higher quality merchandise featuring their own characters from the get go as well. If I'm mad, it's because I already watched this franchise practically DIE once because of the mistakes they made like this. And you'll just have to forgive me if I don't want to watch it go down that very painful road again. It was NOT pretty the first time. (PS, And honestly, with the thousands upon THOUSANDS of dollars I've spent on Pony merch, I think I'm a little entitled to my feels. )
  2. Look at that Chrysalis toy and tell me that again. That thing should be burned, not mass produced. And not incompetent? Clearly you weren't around for g2 or G3-3.5; but a quick Google search will show you Hasbro's sordid pony past. I will concede that Hasbro makes the occasionally intelligent decision, Derpy being one of the rare ones. But the stupid ones come far more often it seems than the smart ones. As I said in my initial post, the toy scene this year isn't completely grim. They did do some decent stuff. But the stuff they did badly, they did *horridly*.
  3. Why would they make Twilight an Alicorn? At this point, it's Hasbro's game, and Hasbro is Crazy. Nothing they do EVER makes sense. (I've been collecting MLP for way too long...experience tells me this...) don't put anything past them....
  4. I am overall very disappointed with their offerings this year. That Chrysalis is not just lazy it's SHAMEFUL. You have the audacity, the GALL to try and pass of YET ANOTHER CELESTIA MOLD off on us as an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER?! No Hasbro. Just no. I'm not doing that. That made me so very mad. The only place where they seem to be "shining" is the hard bodied offerings, like the blind bag and hard figurines. Their brushable category just makes me want to throw things into a fire. A big, (go ahead get mad) brushable pony fueled fire, fueled by Alicorn Twilights, and constant re-releases of every Mane 6 character they've shoved down my throat for the past year when they've got HUNDREDs of other ponies in their intellectual property pool they could have made instead. Hooray for finally having a little mass released Derpy, how long have we been asking for that? Wonder how hard she'll be to find? (Very.) And Lyra...even though they already made her once... I'm interested in this pony though. I'm wondering if she's Twilight's replacement at this point. After all, her cutie mark is a sun, and the definition of Twilight is: the light from the sky between full night and sunrise (mirriam webster)
  5. Oh NO....They put your cutie mark on your arm you're still a...BLANK FLANK!!!!! (I'm only teasing. It looks great! I want to get Luna's cutie mark on my flank myself, but I don't think my hubby would be pleased XD)
  6. I only painted the wings my dear It's easy enough to match the paint color to her body color, so there's no reason to do a full body repaint. Besides, then you have to fuss with repainting eyes and cutiemarks and that's just too much of the E word for me. (Effort )
  7. I forgot to readd that when I rewrote my post XD Yes, acetone and q-tips and a lot of careful patience. And I COULD use sand paper. It would have to be super super fine though and even then because of the material it's made of I have a feeling it would leave trace scratch marks. So I just left her as is ^^
  8. Thanks! I was very tempted to take an exacto knife to the seam on the top of her hair, but I wasn't sure how well I could actually carve JUST the excess seam off. I really like the designs of both as well, but I like how the Funco one's hair is a little more 3 dimensional looking. She was entirely custom mixed paint as far as her yellow wings. I used apple barrel acrylic paint from walmart for the yellow and mixed it down lighter using skull white from Games Workshop. The pink is just straight pastel pink apple barrel paint. It was just the perfect color :3 As far as customs go, don't worry about not getting the color just right, it's like painting a wall: mix mix mix and do tiny spots until you get the color JUST right then paint over the swatch spots. SO easy. Just make sure you have a variety of brush sizes available to you so you can get in all the tiny little crevices
  9. Haha, well spotted! Seems I can't fool you Yes she is indeed a Design a pony Fluttershy that I customized to look proper by removing all those god awful tattoos, and hand painted and matched her body and hair colors. I just couldn't resist seeing if anyone would be able to spot her differences. I may pick up the funco one just so she has a little twin sister (the Funco ones are about an inch shorter than the design a ponies) but I'm DEFINITELY picking up a red bowtie Doctor Whooves
  10. Trixie's mom has goooot it goin' on! Trixie can't you see, you're just not the filly for me...
  11. Oh, you mean this darling little darling that I picked up at Target the other day? I just adore her! At about 6.5 inches tall, she's so cute Sorry for the grainy picture quality. That's what happens when you use your phone camera with your high quality photo studio XD
  12. Not gonna lie, if they actually pull this off and make the characters look proper, I will be spending SO much money there. SO much. I hope they're actually 14-18 inches tall. Not tiny little things. That would be nice....
  13. Yeah, I picked the first two up the other day. I really like it so far, but I have to say, I noticed that the characters in general all seem to be a lot angrier than in the show. Applejack in particular always seems to have a pissed off expression on her face. I like the art, but I think the writers need to stick a little closer to the actual CHARACTER of the characters. They're trying too hard to make the comic feel hardcore for the grown ups when they just need to lay back a little and let the stories happen.
  14. It's not 1080p unless it's bluray, mah dear I'm pretty sure it's standard Dolbly 5.1. I'm still really hesitant about purchasing this myself. The "brightness" mentioned by others translates to me as the issue that the other Shout Factory releases had, where the colors were brightened to the point of being eye burning whitewashy-ness of DOOM. Not really sure if I want to take a gamble on it. Maybe if I take a wild hare I'll post screen caps of what I mean....If I can screen cap from VLC. Hum. I'll have to do research. *Twilight Mode ON*
  15. If you didn't do it, I was going to. There's just no way that 5 million folks out there cast one separate vote for MLP. Heck, the President had to fight tooth and nail for that many votes in a state, what makes ya think a kids show could garner that kind of numbers? Nah, this was purely hacked to bits, or someone sitting by their computer clicking their nights away. Don't get me wrong, it's cool that the show won and all, but the sheer massive gap in the win numbers says that it isn't a legit victory, and that kind of cheapens it for me...
  16. The only spoilers I've read before watching any of the episodes were the previews on my DVR's schedules. That being said, mostly I've enjoyed Season 3. Eh. Mostly. My favorite episodes so far have been Too Many Pinkie Pies (Because let's be honest, you can NEVER have too much Pink...ie Pie.), Magic Duel, Sleepless in Ponyville, Wonderbolt Academy and honestly the best ep of the season has been The Apple Family Reunion. I mean it's got a great catchy SONG, good story, and HEY they remembered to send a dang letter to the Princess at the end! Miracles abound! The remainder of the episodes, the two Crystal Empire eps, Spike At Your Service, and One Bad Apple were all very MEH if not plain out bad (Bad Apple was bad. I hated that ep. -_- Episodes where ponies are just plain mean and nasty to one another for no reason I really don't like because that's not what ponies is about, so Bad Apple and Putting your Hoof Down are on my poop list.) So while there's been some real winners this season, really, Season 3 hasn't quite stacked up to season 2 so far. I mean honestly, it had a LOT to live up to. Smile Smile Smile etc, those are some big horseshoes to fill. And really, they need to start writing more dang letters to Princess Celestia. Only what. TWO this season?!That's pathetic. THOUGH. There is a new Discord episode coming the weekend after this, so we have that to look forward to for sure. I really hope they knock that out of the park. With John DeLance involved, it's kinda hard to imagine that they won't, but you never know. I sort of hope with all my heart there's a DISCORD SONG OMFG, but I know that would be too much to ask.....Le sigh....But if they did OMG that would make a big fat WIN for Season 3.
  17. WELLLLLP....I'm not wildly concerned about it. If they want to shoot themselves in the foot by being stupid, that's cool with me.. I've stopped buying used for the most part. The only thing that would suck for me is when it comes time for me to clear out my old stash of backlogged games I no longer play. Can't exactly sell games that you know. No one can use. What they'd be WISE to do would be to do what they're doing NOW. Season passes for DLC etc. If you want to rope people in to a game for the long haul, all you have to do is allow the sale of a used game, but make it so that they can't buy any of the DLC or even play the game itself unless they buy the licenses. For example: Buy a new game, have the licenses in the box (Like PC games do). You buy the game used, obviously the keys will be used and you have to buy a new key for 5 bucks. You want DLC too? Season pass for 20. BOOM Suddenly you're making money off of people who bought the damn thing used. Instead of shafting people who buy used totally, they could be making cash hand over fist. But no...execs aren't smart like that. Alas for them. I guess I'll be sticking with XBox. Anything good on Playstation always comes out on XBox anyway.....And Xbox always gets DLC exclusives first anyway (Skyrim for example...) And yes, I know that there've been stories that Durango is doing the same kind of thing. And I think they're stupid too. <<
  18. Yep. Strawberry Reef is where pony collectors go for all the latest info. They always are very helpful and super accurate. I have them bookmarked on my phone.I would make one recommendation, for those of you with horrid memories (like me), if you're only missing one or two codes out of a wave, text message the codes of ponies you need to yourself. (Currently I'm still looking for Luna, Celestia, and Cadence.) Doing this will make your life easier than trying to remember the codes or shuffling the page back and forth with all the pictures. I stood in the store last saturday for 20 minutes searching through FIVE BOXES of the current wave and still had no luck...Bummed. AH WELL. That's part of the fun, is the search.

  20. I saw this set at my local wal-mart but their dead, soulless eyes terrified me so much that I couldn't bring myself to have such beasties lurking in my bathroom, for fear that one night they'd come to life and re-enact Cupcakes.....*Shudder*

  23. Have you watched it through yet? Can you tell me how the quality of the video is? Is the color NORMAL? Which is to say, the color balance is the same as if you were to watch it on the hub channel, or on a high res MKV video file? The two DVDs Shout Factory released before, the color balance was WAY off, and it seemed as if the color was drained right out of it, regardless of what display I watched it on, whether it was my Asus gaming laptop, my 42 inch Sharp Aquos, or my 32 inch Sharp Aquos, or my parent's 32 inch LG. Also, the first DVD had serious audio sync issues in the Friendship is Magic Ep 1. Were any of these issues present in this DVD or were they fixed? What aspect ratio is it in? Full screen or wide, as is the original HD presentation? I don't want to purchase this set if they can't even get basic presentation right. I was very disappointed with the shoddy quality of the initial dvd presentations. I mean, it's not like they're not given the master video and audio tracks, how HARD is it to just THROW them on a DVD and GO? Jesus, I can do that at home better than Shout Factory has done. And on a Bluray no less...Sheesh. *Smh* BUT I like to support my franchise...if they've gotten their act straight. Can you shed some light for me?
  24. Well, there are no Chrysalis figures in commercial production at the moment. It doesn't exist. If you want one, you have to make one yourself, or find an artist to commission who will make one for you. You can search Etsy or DeviantArt, there are a load of excellent artists there. There are also pony customizing tutorials on the internets like...EVERYWHERE that you can learn how to make custom ponies yourself (If you don't know how.)
  25. I have posted on this topic before, let me see if I can find it....AH. Flat/Curling Iron: Set the iron on its lowest heat setting and start at the root of the hair, moving slowly to the tips. Make sure to keep the iron moving! Do not allow it to sit in one place for more than a second or two, or you may accidentally burn the hair! Repeat this process until the hair is dry. Shouldn't take more than 3-8 passes. You end up with a straight haired look. Think Fluttershy's hair Straw curls: You'll need drinking straws, rubber bands but PREFERABLY the OUCHLESS clear hair ties that look like rubber bands (but they don't catch in hair like regular plain rubber bands.) These can be found in the hair accessory aisle at stores like Target or WalMart, and are made by Goody :3, and a paper towel, cut or torn into one inch wide strips. Separate the hair into sections and wrap each section one at a time around a straw starting at the ends and wrapping towards the head, keeping the hair as flat as possible. When you finish, take a paper towel strip and wrap it around the hair, fastening it with the rubber band. Leave to dry overnight, and by morning, you will have fabulous curls just like Pinkie Pies. Tip: NEVER use glue or hair gel to style brushable pony's hair. Since the hair is made of nylon, using stuff like this on the hair causes serious long term damage to it. It may make the pony look 20% cooler and show accurate for a little while, but in the end it completely ruins the pony's lovely locks. Just do your best to style the hair into your desired style using the above styling methods which if done *properly* cause no damage and will actually maintain their hair Also, unless you have experience with cutting hair, either human, wig or honestly bait pony hair, don't bother cutting their hair. You'll end up doing more damage than actual styling and will probably be unhappy with the end result. Usually you can't cut the hair to look more show accurate anyway. It just...ends up bad. So says almost ALL the internet images I've seen. *nodnod* Good luck!
