  1. I just thought it would be really funny and slightly ironic to point out how much a lot of the "Unpopular" opinions seem to flow along the same lines in this thread. Especially when it comes to Obama. Lots of dislike for him...Wonder why...Hm. So does that make it the popular opinion? (Just thought I'd add, I share that one. He's a horrible president. )
  2. I personally think all of what you mentioned is a matter of absolutely SHITTY parenting. As a parent: My son watches kid appropriate TV. Mickey Mouse, Little einsteins etc. (and even THOSE, I have to go "Oh, he's behaving VERY badly isn't he James!" Re: Donald's tantrums -_-) He's TWO. He doesn't need to know about the evils of the world. And as he gets older, he won't NEED to know about them unless he should encounter them himself on his own in everyday life. As a good parent it's your job to shield your kids from the horrible things going on in the world so your kid can enjoy their childhood and not worry about every horrible thing happening around them. Hell, I've stopped watching the news on TV because I don't want to hear about all the awful sick things in the world.I have enough problems on my own TYVM. I honestly feel sorry for kids whose parents don't let them just be innocent little kids for as long as they can. It doesn't last forever, and honestly we as parents should do everything we can to make it last as long as we can.
  3. But they DO let outsiders help! They let Twilight Sparkle help after all, and she wasn't a Ponyville native. She moved there from Canterlot! *Koff* But now that I pointed that technicality out << I'd Probably go help AJ at the farm. I love gardening. :3 Either that or RD, Because it would mean I COULD FLY. YES. Or Pinkie Pie. Because I could just have a fun day of skating. Heck, as long as it doesn't involve indoor cleaning, I'm THERE.
  4. AGH. HE MUST lose the crown. THAT makes him look too girly. However, I'm loving the giant styling version of Shining Armor. HE HAS A MOHAWK XD (Or should we call it a Bro-hawk? )
  5. Technically Wave 2 was never released in the US, they skipped right to wave 3 and 4. Wave 4 is the Shiny and metal ones Wave 3 features Big Mac and the first set of male blind bag ponies. http://www.strawberryreef.com/Index/G4/IndexBB.html BEST GUIDE EVER ^
  6. Personally, people like that should be tossed out on their ear by con staff/security. I know at anime cons there's a standard for behavior that if you don't hold to, you DO get kicked out and I think it's time that BronyCons start doing the same thing. Bad behavior like that should NOT be tolerated, and if you do behave like that, you should have consequences. That kind of stuff is just NOT acceptable and ruins the fun for everyone.
  7. Her eyes give me the heebie jeebies. Well done though. What sort of paint did you use? The only reason I ask is because in the really close up shot I noticed some brush strokes in the whites of her eyes. White is notoriously EVIL to deal with in customs. I'd recommend either thinning down the paint a little with water or picking up some Testors paint, or what I use, the Games Workshop bone white paint. That stuff ROCKS. As far as the mane goes, you mentioned that you had a girlfriend? Does she have a curling iron with a 1 inch barrel, or a flat iron? <--Hair tools If she does, wet down Pinkie's hair, making sure not to get her eyes wet, otherwise your paint will run. (I'll get to that in a minute) Wet down her hair, and set one of these objects to their LOWEST heat setting And I mean LOWEST LOWEST LOWEST. Start at the root of the hair by the head and slowly pull the iron to the end of the hair. Never let the iron linger in one place for more than a second or two. YOU WILL HEAR POPS AND SIZZLES, this is normal. If you SMELL BURNING, this is NOT! You're melting the hair in that case. Just keep the iron moving and in a few passes, you'll have straight as an arrow hair. I would recommend taking some HUMAN HAIR conditioner and washing the hair with it first, leaving JUST a little bit in the hair for moisture's sake. This also helps to keep the hair straight and soft post-ironing. NOW. As far as keeping your eyes paint job intact, I recommend getting some makeup application sponges, and a product called "ModPodge", you can get it in your local Michaels craft store or Walmart Craft aisle, the MATTE version, and take a small amount, water it down and paint it over the eyes. This seals the eyes paint and makes it permanent Well done for a first try, keep up the good work! A word to the wise though: No glue or hair gel in pony's hair, it will cause chemical breakdown of the nylon in the hair over the long term, and just cause problems in general ^^ Have fun, I look forward to seeing more!
  8. Well, first, let me apologize for their ignorant asshat attitude. I don't personally count myself as a "Brony" because I'm female. And YES I realize the term is supposedly gender flexible, but I prefer the term Pegasister :3 I don't think I've ever been bullied for LOVING ponies, in fact, most people just sort of smile at me or ask questions about ponies, or end up getting into the hobby themselves because of me. But in regards to bronies BEING bullied? I have LEFT forums because of their obnoxious, holier than thou, rude attitudes about bronies. Old School collectors (Like myself) are usually of one mind: Bronies are IDIOTS who just want one thing: show accurate toys and the death of anything to do with the roots of My Little Pony. I don't take this attitude: in fact, Bronies are the new life blood of the MLP franchise (which was otherwise DYING before Friendship is Magic). What old school Pony lovers need to realize is this: what Bronies lack is Education about the old generations. Each old generation had their own charms, and contributed their own important bits to what MLP is today. Instead of just shutting Bronies out as ignorant, we should teach and be friendly to those who are interested. I think Bronies in general would appreciate more their FIM of today if they knew where their ponies came from and learned with an open mind. I've defended bronies where most old schoolers like myself have just pissed and moaned about how much Bronies suck. ^^; I think it's honestly because of this board: there's a different breed of brony here. They seem to be a lot more open minded and interested in the history of MLP, which is a good thing And I LOVE teaching what I know. ^^ Its fun for me.
  9. Where did you find this image? This looks like a new varient of Fluttershy. Not something poorly made. If you notice, you can see the washer that holds her tail in, indicating that the plastic is see through somewhat. You can't see that on ANY currently made fluttershy. (Can has all. Knows. <<; ) Maybe this particular FS..NO. NO WAIT. I know what this is. This is Crystal Empire Fluttershy! I just read something on the back of the castle I bought yesterday. All the ponies SPARKLE/GLOW in the Crystal Empire! I bet you she glows in the dark, or has little iridescent sparklies in the body that you can't see in this picture. COOL. And as far as at least QUALITY CONTROL goes for Hasbro: yes, they suck. As far as the toys themselves? No. I love them. I don't mind that they OMFG don't look exactly like the show: it's part of the fun of owning them is making them look the way YOU want them to
  10. Oh Apple Blooooom, Vega, why you no message me for your customizing needs? I have experience with both. Each have their own pros and cons that you can deal with, honestly the choice in bait you use is dependent upon the project's vision. Brushable: Pro: BIGGER! So therefore, easier to work with in terms of fine detail painting. HAIR! You have SO many options when it comes to hair. Honestly bronies are SO short sighted sometimes when it comes to their ponies all they can think about is "SHOW ACCURATE SHOW ACCURATE!" Good lord folks have a little creativity! Reference Images: http://ponycustoms.c...uns-and-twists/ Image source: http://mlparena.com/...?topic=296328.0 So there's TONS of things to do with hair. Not to mention color schemes with hair can mean an entire THEME for a pony! Or you can even mix and match sculpting with hair! Now cons: You have to Buy hair. Easy enough though, it's cheap, you can get it for 3.50 or so at dollyhair.com, and they do color blends, and will even keep colors separate for you if you only want half a hank of this and that. THEY ROCK. /endorsement. The G4 heads are a pain in the A$$ to get off. Then you need a very sharp exacto knife to cut out the neck plug so that you can reach in with something narrow (I use surgeons's clenchers) to grab out the tail. This can be both dangerous (you can cut yourself) and frustrating if you don't have someone strong in your house. Easy solution: Run it under HOT OMFG water for five minutes or so. This will heat up the plastic just enough to make it easier to pop off. Some older G1 ponies are worth money. A LOT OF MONEY. And are VERY VERY RARE. Some people who are *mufflestupidmuffle* don't realize this and don't check what pony they have and will customize it. DONT BE THAT PERSON. OK. Blind bags! Pro: CHEAP. <-Always a pro. Easy to find and work with, and don't take up a mess of space. You know...unless you have 50 unfinished customs. *cough* Absolutely NO worry about "OMG am I customizing a pony that's worth money?!" Cons: Limited creativity. If you WANT hair, tough nuggets. Unless you are obscenely patient and manage to carve off ALL the sculpted hair, smooth off the neck/head carving marks with apoxie clay or sculpey, carve a hair ditch down the neck and glue hair in....Yeah see? LIMITED. You pretty much get Sculpted hair unless you're CRAZY like me. << Challenging to work with. If you WANT a hair style OTHER than what was originally carved onto the thing, pretty much count on countless hours of painsteaking whittling with your trusty SHARP exacto knife and lots of shavings. And then sculpting TINY. OMFGBBQ. Painting details THAT SMALL makes you realize why the first four letters in the word "Painting" are P-A-I-N! Hope you have super fine detail brushes! You need them! Not only details, but making sure you can get paint in all the little crevices when doing a full body repaint is HARD. >< SO, those are the pros and cons I could think of...I've done extensive work with both, honestly, I could care less which I use. I have equal numbers of both, but really, the choice of bait just depends on the vision for the project. Have fun! Any more questions?
  11. I'll quote my husband on this one: 1. If you don't like it, DO something about it! Be crafty. Acetone off the eyes and paint on ones that are more asthetically pleasing to you. If you don't like the hair, CUT IT. CURL IT. Buzz it off, yank out the plugs and SCULPT hair on. But don't just complain about it, especially when there's a solution that just takes some (fun) effort on your part. It's called customizing. Have FUN with your ponies, but be aware if you care about collector's value (which it seems 99% of pony collecting bronies dont ) doing this will destroy any future value the pony may have. 2. Yes. The target demographic IS little girls. The toys are for LITTLE GIRLS. (And big girls who are still little at heart. *guilty*) There's a TON of other merch beginning to flood the market for older audiences, such as apparel, bags, and yes even butt-fugly plushies. A note on the plushies, if you don't like what Hasbro puts out: go support a struggling plush artist on DeviantArt or Etsy! There's BJILLIONS of talented artists out there dying to make you a plush. How much do you really want a show accurate plush? Enough to spend the money it would take to get one? No? Then be happy with what Hasbro gives you or make your own. Myself, I love all ponies custom or manufactured and my collection is rediculously large. And now they have their own castle. But that's neither here nor there. Honestly, all I'm saying is this: what Hasbro sees: $$$$$$ In their bank. WHY would they change what is obviously working because a minority of people is unhappy with it?
  12. The second picture makes her look like Rainbow Giraffe O.O;;; She has a very Long body and neck...Wow.
  13. Ok, so the ONLY FiM "school supplies" I've spotted was a Mini and I mean MINI backpack at Spencers. Had Rainbow Dash it. But as far as actual supplies like pancils and folders? No. I've been looking. EVERYWHERE. And I have a BIG sad...I really wanted a BIG FUNCTIONAL backpack. But I think I'd be better off making my own. You know what they say...If wishes were horses then beggars would ride
  14. Haha, nice one. Though I don't doubt for a moment that there's a MESS of plushie makers out there that are like "HEY, SALVAGE DEM EYES!" Because I'll be honest, those embroidered eyes are REALLY nice.
  15. You can't. The glitter paint that Hasbro uses on cutie marks is a permanent overlay. If you want to remove the cutie marks all together, meaning THE ENTIRE CUTIEMARK, glitter, image and ALL, acetone (like the kind you use on fingernails) will take it off in seconds. Otherwise, just enjoy that there are some special ponies in your herd Because unless you have a steady hand at re-painting cutie marks, that glitter is there to stay. ^_^v
  16. Too bad, they're already gone. Posted today at 12 noon EST, gone within 15 minutes. Hasbro you bastards -_- YOU NEED MORE STOCK!!!!!!
  17. No, they are all G1 ponies, with the exception of the little one on the right end, which is a G3 baby. The five on the left end are G1 babies. If your friend would like help in identifying them, she can use this site, which is the go-to for identifying older ponies. http://www.kimsites....onies_list.html The super bright pink one with red hair I believe may be one of the Rockin' Beats ponies. They had crazy makeup and rock guitars. And I see Sunspot! She's the sparkly orange one. I have her, she's a childhood pony for me. <3
  18. I can recommend that if you want to make one yourself, try using sculpey, which is a bake to cure clay. It gives you lots of time to make sure you get your sculpting just right and is very easy to work with. Bake on a cookie sheet on top of a paper towel at 215-220 for 10-15 minutes depending on your oven. Sand with a fine grit sandpaper to remove any fingerprints left in sculpting, then paint with acrylic paint. Or if you're feeling daring, and like spending a little more cash, Apoxie clay. Takes about 4-6 hours to dry and cure and is a little stronger In regards to cutting pony hair, my suggestion is Don't. <--Note the Capital "D" DONT. Pony hair, like people hair is very challenging to cut, and unless you know what you're doing, it is VERY easy to mess up. And unlike people hair, Pony hair doesn't grow back for another go. So if you are relatively OK with how your ponies look as they are, just let them enjoy what hair they have, and don't force them to bear the scars of a botched bob. It just makes more work for pony collectors down the line, who have to *droneydraggyvoice* Maaaatch the haaaaaaaaaair colorrrrs, maaaaaaaake 50 BILLLION plugs, then REEEEEEEEEROOOOT the haiiiiiiiiiiiir.....http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png Most pony styles can be achieved using the methods I had mentioned earlier If you need, I can repost my straw curling method for Pinkie's hair.
  19. What -I- want is for them to make the storybooks they made for the stupid IOS on the Android. I hope they don't blow this opportunity, and I hope they have paid AND free versions with ads. I'd be interested to see what they do with it. Hopefully they don't do something childish and kitchy, but something neat and fun for all ages to enjoy.
  20. If you were to price out my entire collection, from G1, G3, and G4, Adding in attire, customizing supplies etc....I've easily spent....Easily over 2000$. Potentially upwards of 2.5k$. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png My husband is very tolerant of my pony spending. Granted, this is over 4 years. But still. Thats a load of money.
  21. Hey. Be glad you're over in the Europe where you can get the next wave! We in the states are still waiting on 2-4 =\
  22. 40 Bucks is OBSCENE. Especially since they had the GALL to put TWO core ponies in there. So you're essentially only getting 5/7 ponies that are NEW? That is SO uncool. Hasbro, you bastards...take my money.
  23. I dont have anything against it persay, but it is most definitely outside the realm of what the majority of people would consider normal, and I, myself, find it weird that someone would derive sexual pleasure out of conjuring up thoughts of animals or humanized animals, doinking. Thats all. Just not my thing. Problem? =P
  24. While part of me reads through all these "magic" spells and just wants to just go, dear god, what teenage goth nonsense this is..(since its what all the goths did when i was in high school) the kind tolerant adult in me wants to ask first: where did you get these spells? what is the basis for your belief that these odd rituals work? What do you believe? You had mentioned that you attend Wiccan church, but do you consider yourself a Wiccan? I'm more curious than anything...
  25. NO. BAD BURGER KING. NO MONEY FOR YOU! IM NOT YOUR FATTY ANYMORE! DO NOT EVER WANT!!!
