We stand united 1x1 Maple Bat

Festus nodded "Not hungry anyways. Let's go... Though I have one question... That one named Woody, when he gets here... how do you think He'll find us?"

"Woody will know trust me." Fluttershy said "Celestia? Do you think you could try to get that bullet out with magic?"

"Well, I certainly could try... You two go, perhaps it's best you are not here for that in case something goes wrong." The Sun alicorn added, "I don't think anything will go wrong but I want you to be safe."

Jack nodded.

"Quick question, could you ask if Ember would like to join us as well? I and Festus might already be ahead in that moment but I am sure she will be able to catch up, she is not one to be stopped by anything after all." Jack said.

As Jack and Festus walked through the streets, he suddenly noticed some sort of tunnel, it looked similar to a subway entrance.

"We might actually find some valuable things there, who knows, what you say?" he asked Festus.

Festus, who had no idea what it looked like, looked at it in awe, "Yea let's go in there, though there may be danger. If there's danger I'm ready for it. I can... I can go in there. What all you think is in there?"

Luna looked at Maple's body "Maple... It amazes me how quickly you throw yourself into things you can't handle. I mean a conversation center ALONE. What were you thinking?"

"I was thinking I could protect everyone." Maple said "I'm fine, so I was able to protect them."

"We might find commonly infected who are lurking behind corners, or even bigger creatures, these towns might sometimes look abandoned, but like insects, when you look in the darker corners, it is swarming with these monsters." Jack said.

"But at the same time we might find useful things in there, as in pretty good things perhaps, that is the plus side of scavenging."

As they walked in the tunnel, Jack was looking around suspiciously.

He then gave a sign for Festus to stop.

"Hold on... Do you see that?" Jack said, pointing ahead.

A bit further removed from them where big Cocoons that were made from some sort of flesh styled material, that same material was also a bit on the ceiling as some sort of spider web.

But what made it creepier was that the Cocoons were actually moving a bit, while they were staying in place, they occasionally wiggled back and forth.

"I haven't seen this alot before, this is rather new to me if I am being honest." Jack said.

Some sort of tiny insect crawled past their feet, but it had the same type of golden eyes like those monsters, yet it did not attack them, it just crawled around like an insect.

Festus drew his blade... "I don't think I trust that thing... I don't think I'm going to strike first. I feel that's what it wants..." He was saying that but really he just didn't want to fight it because it was creeping him out to the point he was intimidated by the beast. He was upset that he was scared of something small but he couldn't help it, it was mostly the surrounding area anyway. He shook off the worry. "Or it could want me to stand here. in panic." He dashed at it and took a huge swing.

The small creature got sliced apart by Festus his swing, weird coloured blood was splattered in a tiny pool

"Good call, it would have been bad if we let that thing roam around with us still here." Jack said.

He then walked ahead, he was a bit intimidated and wary because of the cocoons but he walked past them regardless.

But then he saw something on the ground.

It was a dead soldier, but it was not from the enemy alliance, it was the opposite.

"Look what we have here. A member of the Thundershock army..." Muttered as he inspected the body up close.

He picked up the soldier's old weapon which happened to be a shotgun.

Jack tested it a bit by pumping the shotgun and chambering it.

"Looks like this one still works." Jack said with a smile.

The cocoons suddenly started moving even more violently than before, like they were erupting or something.

Jack walked to one of them with a confused expression on his face.

"What could be inside these things.." he wondered out loud as he touched one of them.

The cocoons were moving more violently over time, and it looked like they were almost going to hatch.

"I wonder, could that small creature be responsible for making these cocoons." Jack asked to himself as he was inspecting one of them.

Festus moved over to the same one and prepared to fight holding his large shield in front of Jack. "Whatever it is could be dangerous... Stay behind me... so we can find out..." He waited in fear gripping his shield tightly and covering as much of the two as he could with the shield.

Jack moved behind him and aimed the shotgun a bit over his shoulder.

The cocoon had reached a point where it eventually hatched, the outer layer exploded, and an infected creature emerged, but this one was bizarrely different as it was a bit taller and it stood more upright, but the most alarming thing was that some sort of weird goo was oozing from its body, like the creature was suffering some sort of crazy disease.

It roared as it was running towards them, but Jack shot it straight at its chest, exploding the entire creature as the ooze spread around its now blown up corpse.

But to their horror, all around the tunnel, the cocoons were starting to hatch, and the creatures were capable of exploding themselves, causing them to be some sort of kamikaze infected.

"They are coming from all sides!!" Jack screamed as he started firing more shells at his enemies.

The creatures were sprinting at the speed like a full experienced marathon champion would, running at a very high speed towards them from both sides.

"Ok, this is not good.." Jack stammered, but he suddenly saw a temporary save spot as he saw some sort of destroyed train cart.

He grabbed Festus his arm and dragged him along as he let them both in the train car, Jack then slammed the door shut and barricaded it with a metal pipe that he put along the handle, making sure they wouldn't be able to open it.

Festus had reacted quickly if any infected got close he would put she shield in front of before they exploded, and he stabbed any that were delayed on doing that, after the two where safe in the train car, he sat down. "Well... Thanks. That could've been a lot worse" He looked at his shield disturbed by the look of it now it was covered in that ooze "Gross."

"No problem, it was the best I could think of, it managed to keep us safe, for now at least." Jack said.

The creatures were now slamming against the train wreck.

"We will need to find a way out tough." Jack said.

He looked around a bit until he found a hatch in the ceiling.

"There is a hatch there above us, though it is too high up to reach." Jack said.

"Damn... we somehow need to get through that hatch, then we would somehow need to get over that big group, and make a run for it." Jack said while thinking

Festus sighed "Here." He picked up Jack and threw him up to the hatch, and Jack made it out the hatch... "Now... I just need to..." Festus got a running start and Jumped using his wings to try to fly but... He still couldn't use them enough to get height enough height. "Just... Go. I'll be ok."

Jack frowned.

"Festus, we both know you won't be ok staying there, i have been in these situations enough times to know how these things end."

Jack  stuck out his open hand down the hatch again.

"If you stay here, and then i am staying to, i am not leaving without you."

"Jump again and i will pull you up, you din't let a small creature get you defeated, so a simple latch is not going to defeat you, you got it?" Jack said, hoping to inspire some courage into him.

"But I can't make it that high there's not another choice!" Festus shouted but after he did there was a flash in his eyes. "Wait... stay like that." Festus looked at the wall, He took a running start again ran alson the side of it for as long as he could and jumped off it and went as far with his wings as he could barely able to grab Jacks hand. "I... I did it." He said to him smiling.

Jack grunted as he tried to pull up Festus.

"Ok, I perhaps didn't really keep in mind that I might not have been able to pull up your weight." Jack said

He managed to get Festus over the hatch, but his shoulder made a popping sound when Festus was on the roof.

"Perhaps I overdid it there." Jack said as he was sweating a bit.

"Well..." He said "You did it. I owe you even more so now... First the bullet now this. However, we do seem to make a good team." He laughed as he put his shield on his back. "Trouble is everywhere but we seem to be handling it fine!"

"Indeed, there is no denying that." Jack said with a smile of his own.

He then looked down at all the creatures who were trying to desperately try and reach them.

"I guess the only thing we can now do is try jump and hope we get a good enough running start, that sounds like a good idea to you? Its the only thing i can come up with right now." Jack admitted.

"Yea seems simple enough." Festus said picking him up. "I'm not good at flying but at least I can glide right?" He ran and jumped off the train car getting as much hiegth off the jump as he could "Ok... I think we can make it now." He smiled at Jack as he 'flew' across.

"I keep forgetting then we can literally do these kind of things, i have always been used to just having to do what terrain offers me." Jack said, glad they actually had such a advantage.

The creatures where running after them like crazy, but Jack and Festus where still faster then them at the moment.

"Problem is that these creatures won't just give up once we have exited the tunnel, we had best head back to the others, hopefully we can find some sort of short cut along the way!" Jack said, as he looked back, a bit afraid at how many there of them.

"The 2 of us can't kill that many, especially with their... booming state!"

"Actually, I have an idea." Festus said setting Jack on top of another traincar he laned on "I'm gonna get all of them close together and then you shoot one and *BOOM*" He clapped loudly. "It sets off a chain reaciton that kills all of them." He lept down "Hey! Over here!" Festus started jumping in circles, waiting on them to chase him at first.

'I sure hope this works, I have learned to not underestimate even the mindless horrors.' Jack thought.

The creatures started to split up a bit, while some went after Festus, some went after Jack as well, in which they started to bang at the train car.

When some of them were going after Festus, Jack fired, and one of them exploded, but the desired effect had only worked partially.

3 creatures who had been near it had exploded due to the force and damage of the one's explosion, but to Jack's dismay, the others still remained.

"Festus, it only worked slightly, will they do explode it seems they explode via a manner of spreading their goo all over the place when they ignite, it is not the same effect as you would expect from gunpowder or anything close to a real explosion!" Jack said, realizing now why it was not entirely working.

"We could try to kill the remaining ones via different methods, but we are gonna need a fast retreat each time we deal them a lethal blow!"

"By the way, you think Ember is going to show up? We could use all the help we can get right now!" Jack said as he started to fire more against the creatures.

Festus lept onto one slicing it quickly and jumping off in one swift motion "I don't know if she's gonna show she doesn't have any idea of where we are right now. If we're lucky she'll find us but I don't think we're gonna get that lucky. We can handle this though." One of the creatures exploded behind Festus but his shield blocked it. Festus sighed relieved that he didn't pull his shield off his back.

"I really hope we can, because there is alot of them" Jack said as he kep't firing.

It was then that his shotgun gave a click wich meant it was empty.

He quickly reloaded it with some of the shells he had found at the soldier's body.

Jack then started firing at the creatures again, killing around 5, but that fire support was not going to last forever.

Festus was doing great against them anytime one was gonna explode on him he just turned around and blocked it with his shield on his back. Jack, however, could see him slowing down. He wasn't slowing down quickly but it was noticeable enough. He saw a few in a line and ran through them slashing all of them. "We got this Jack don't worry about it."

Jack was a bit puzzled about the whole situation.

He knew Festus could hold his own, as he was showing it greatly, but he was also noticing the slowdown.

'I really hope so Festus, because if you end up not being able to fight or move, we are in trouble, since there is no way i cannot carry because of your weight, and dragging is to hard with those things running so fast... And what i can do against them? I can't use any magic, but once i run out of ammo, i can only use my knife, which is debatable if i am going to last long against so many, because let's face it, Festus is a thousand times stronger than me in melee combat, that is no secret.' Jack thought.

His shotgun, however, again, clicked, indicating it was empty.

He cursed as he placed on the roof.

Jack drew his pistol and started firing from there, he had already killed a decent amount by now, but the group of those mutated infected was still not close enough to getting low on numbers, despite the 2 hero's holding their own.

Festus was doing ok, but then he noticed one behind him... no big deal but there was one in front of him too... "Crap! Ahh." Something hit the thing and knocked it away and then it exploded.

Ember had thrown a handmade javelin which had saved him "You two... I should've gone with you as soon as you left but it's ok you both look ok for now." She drew another Javelin from her... it was like a quiver but for javelins. She threw another and took out another infected.
