Would villainizing the sea ponies be a bad idea?

Okay, so, I was going to write a fanfiction and I figured that I had a great idea for villains. The basic premise is that the dazzlings aren't the only sirens, just the most powerful, and there are others. And they drive ponies insane by singing a song. Said song is essentially the sea ponies song from, what was it, G1? It was G1 right? (I heard the song was terrible but I might be misremembering things). Anyway, I feel like I'm misremembering things and this is a bad idea. If it is I think I'll just go with my original idea.
