SharpWit 2,855 April 11, 2018 Share April 11, 2018 it was showcased May 10th, at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, but I think that just means they previewed it. I think the franchise is too big to be played at a regular film festival but then again I have no idea how those things really work. The movies is estimated to have cost between 5 and 8 million dollars to make and easily put itself in theatres across the United States, which I don't think festival type films are really able to do which is part of why such festivals are organized in the first place, beyond the aspect of seeing films from an artistic point of view. FirePuppy 739 June 27, 2018 Author Share June 27, 2018 I remember 20 years ago, film festivals were the norm for many foreign movies. But now, some movies get released straight to VOD services and don't even get any theatrical release, nor do they ever get Blu-ray or DVD releases.
