O-78 28,609 October 8, 2018 Share October 8, 2018 Recently, I've been thinking about the flashback sequence in the episode "Where the Apple Lies", and I've been wondering, where was Apple Bloom during all of that? I mean, we see Diamond Tiara's parents before they were married, so it can be assumed that Diamond Tiara hadn't been born yet. But since Diamond Tiara seems to be the same age as Apple Bloom, that would mean Apple Bloom hadn't been born yet either. That and the fact that if Apple Bloom was a foal or a little filly at that time, that would mean that Granny Smith, Big Mac and Applejack left her home alone when they went to the hospital. And I just can't see the Apples being that irresponsible. We also don't see Bright Mac and Pear Butter. I assume this takes place at least two years after Applejack's cutie mark story, and they didn't appear there either, so they likely died before Applejack got her cutie mark. If Apple Bloom hadn't been born at that time, then Bright Mac and Pear Butter can't be Apple Bloom's parents. But in that case, who are? This is where my theory dives into headcanon territory, and focuses on the Flim Flam brothers. Flim and Flam actually bear a striking resemblance to Apple Bloom. with yellow coats and red manes. Yellow and red are common colors in the Apple family, and the Flim Flam brothers both have apple-related cutie marks. Flim and Flam could have been part of the Apple family at one point, with one earth pony parent and one unicorn parent. Despite being unicorns, Flim and Flam were basically raised as earth ponies, but due to their ability to use magic, they soon grew out of manual labor and struck out on their own to make cider and other apple-related products their own way. The reason they targeted the Apple family in their first two appearances is because they believed that they were superior to their earth pony relatives and were determined to show it. How does this connect to Apple Bloom, you may ask? Well, here's my headcanon/answer to this question: Flam is Apple Bloom's father. My thinking is that after striking out on their own, Flim and Flam traveled around Equestria for several years, taking odd jobs here and there and living on just a few bits until they had enough money to start their own cider business. Eventually, this led them to Ponyville, and here Flam accidentally impregnated an earth pony mare. When this unknown mare gave birth to the foal, she left Flam to take care of it. Flam realized that there was no way he and his brother would be able to take care of his little daughter, as they were already struggling to take care of themselves. So Flam went to the only place in Ponyville he knew - Sweet Apple Acres - and left the foal there, as he was sure that if there was one way his earth pony relatives would be better than him, it was in raising and taking care of a little filly. This little filly was of course Apple Bloom. So what are your thoughts on this theory/headcanon of mine? Do you agree with it, or do you have some other explanation in mind? ManaMinori 4,146 October 8, 2018 Share October 8, 2018 why is it that Flam didn't seem to recognize or address AB in particular, when they came around with the Super Cider Squeezy, if she was his daughter? cuteycindyhoney 13,320 October 8, 2018 Share October 8, 2018 (edited) That doesn't sound very workable to me. Why would Granny Smith take a stranger's child in, and then years later pretend she never met the stranger when he returns with his brother, and tries to steal her farm? Why would Flam try to steal the farm, and never once even hint that only Applebloom would be allowed to stay on? If he wanted his daughter to grow up happy and loved, why would he come back and make a determined effort to totally destroy her obviously happy home life? This seems key to the whole scenario. 2 hours ago, shyabetes3939 said: t if Apple Bloom was a foal or a little filly at that time, that would mean that Granny Smith, Big Mac and Applejack left her home alone when they went to the hospital. The kindly but very busy Apples regularly hire her to foal sit adorable little Applebloom. "Applejack, you all hurry and fetch Cheerilee! Shake your flanks! We gotta git to the hospital!" Actually, the foal sitter could be ANY young pony. In rural areas, farm families are always helping each other out. Edited October 8, 2018 by cuteycindyhoney Thank you Sparklefan1234!!!
