In "The Beginning of an End", does anyone else wonder why King Sombra didn't just go for Spike in the first place?

I posted the same thing on the Reddit but isn't he also supposed to be on board with this whole "Spike saved the Crystal Empire from King Sombra", plus didn't he noticed THE GIANT STATUE of Spike in the empire. No seriously, I think he should've targeted Spike first, and I would've loved to see them actually battle like face to face. Like don't get me wrong his plan overall was maniacal, devious, intense and legit pretty terrifying like the mastermind he is but you'd think he'd notice  the one and ONLY flaw, Spike the brave and glorious. Anyone else wonder that?

Not just Spike, he also didn't seek vengeance against Celestia and Luna either time he returned or even try to find them to fight them. Capture and subjugation are his only forms of retaliation against those who destroy him. He's not exactly the kind to hold grudges, I feel.

Spike did bring the crystal heart to the crystal ponies, but Sombra likely viewed Spike as a minor threat and the major threat as the alicorns Cadence and Flurry Heart.
