Basically, Sombra hears of the existence of the Human World and seeing it as a much greater conquest than Equestria, invades it with the intent of conquering Humanity and bloating his numbers with mind controlled Human soldiers. 

 

Meanwhile For Equestria, the objective shifts from Defending Equestria to saving humanity as the follow Sombra's forces into the Human world with the intent of stopping Sombra's plan to enslave Humanity abd rescue or even fight alongside Humans in order to stop him.
