Regarding Spikes growth

We know Spike had grown by the end

But do we know how 

Also um... I can't remember did spike move on from his crush on Rarity.

How has our Dragon grown

(Not to mention um in gen5?! I'm very confused)

I want to be able to explain to my friends when they get to it because I've been their source of info throughout the episodes 🙃

Honestly I think how he grow up to be is because he was surrounded by ponies and just learning and being friends with them. Like of course if he was truly raise by dragons then yeah he probably grown up to be a greedy dragon but since he's been with Twilight and been around other ponies from birth and how he learned the meaning of friendship and other lessons, that's how he was grown to what he is today. That's my take at least but yeah he did move on from his crush on Rarity.

Yes we are not going to talk about him in G5 because my god they did him and the other dragons dirty with there designs.

It is never said in FiM that dragons need greed to grow. They look the way they do in G5 as a result of their magical hibernation.

So the results of his growth are ponified into his own little dragon element 🤔

Zecora telling twilight about a dragons greed in the episode where its Spikes  birthday she says , "A dragon's heart is prone to greed, a steady diet to make growth speed. Then, the resulting bigger size only makes their hunger rise. If this trait should go unchecked, if Spike continues to collect more growth will certainly occur - he is going to turn into a monster." Then after twilights reply she then says, "If his monstrous ways you wish to impede, you must prevent him from practicing greed." 

Therefore dragons grow from greed.

But I understand the magical hibernation in g5 makes them look different. What I want to know is how specifically how Spike grew up during the time skip to make him look the way he did for the end of g4?

(and how, if it does how does that version of Spike get to g5 without greed? But thats not my main focus here) (Speaking outside the facts g5 dragons need to be a certain mold for toys of course)

For me the way the Dragons look depends on their age, Spike was a baby dragon during the entire series, I believe in End of FiM he's around the same age as Garble, Ember and the other smaller dragons we see in G4

I saw a theory that Spike and the other Dragons have that appearance in G5 because there they are around the same age as Ember's father and the bigger dragons from G4, and they weren't bipedal, and that could explain why Sparky is bipedal just like Baby Spike

Ah so you're saying from young fledgling on till about adult and elder-hood they are bipeds then they become quadrupeds. Though then the greed can make a dragon grow faster it's not necessary for them to actually grow up.

Yes, but they do not need greed to grow. Keep in mind that MLP's all about teaching morals and life lessons, they were showing that it was a bad thing how Spike was growing from the greed.

I think that really explains his giant form in "Secret of my Excess", faster aging, while in G5 it was natural aging and there he and the other Dragons aren't greedy

Greed is then an ability to grow but not a good one yes, okay I get it now.
