Antiyonder 1,198 July 19, 2024 Share July 19, 2024 Yeah a lot of various comic and/or manga threads to be found, but I figured maybe trying a thread for the medium in all forms. Individual issues, collected editions (Mostly how I think we get manga in the West), comic strips whether there are still newspapers with them, web comic strips, web comics. Etc. Anyway, to start, we get a crossover between the East and West coming from IDW this fall:
Fluttershutter 2,517 July 19, 2024 Share July 19, 2024 I really liked The Last Ronin. Supposedly they're making an R rated movie out of it. That could be great if they don't mess it up.

Slappy Bird 129 July 24, 2024 Share July 24, 2024 I've discovered this manga because it's 4Chan's semi-official mascot (at least back then). Honestly, I'm glad it was because that's how I know about it
Antiyonder 1,198 July 28, 2024 Author Share July 28, 2024 (edited) My summer stuff thus far with non-reads mixed in: Except for Paws Volume 3, I've read the rest before via library checkouts. Perfect manga mention: Yotsuba is made by the same guy who made Azumanga Daioh. It's basically like Azumanga Daioh, except it's focus on a little girl and the antics around her when she moved to a new town at the beginning of the series

Antiyonder 1,198 August 31, 2024 Author Share August 31, 2024 If not obvious, BTW, comic/manga based shows are on the table. Anyway, first comic store purchases since after early June.
Lucky Star 216 141 September 5, 2024 Share September 5, 2024 Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. It's a satire/slash social commentary. I like to think of it as being like the magic school bus but instead of focusing on science it's more about philosophy. It was really fun. I've read and reread more times that I can count over the years. I tried collecting all the volumes years back because I wanted them for my bookshelf. There are thirty volumes, the official English translation dropped it after fourteen. I was so disappointed. I had already read through the entire series multiple times thanks to the fan translation but I really wanted to own them all. *Le sigh* can't have nice things lol It got an anime adaptation, I think a couple of seasons too. But I dropped it after episode one. It wasn't very good- the manga even makes jokes about it. It breaks fourth wall to talk about it coming then it's like, "Let's pretend that never happened." XD I don't blame the author, I probably would have done the same. The pacing was too fast, it was like watching it on fast forward.
