StarHeart333 1,775 August 7, 2024 Share August 7, 2024 I figured since this thread was all about music and media that I would bring up the topic of MP3 players. my own is quite a weird little mp3 player called the TIMMKOO. I'm sure I'm the probably the only one who has even heard of it. The pros are that it has good sound quality and if you have a big enough Micro SD card you can have A LOT of storage space. I have a 512 GB card for mine. Pros can do mp3, MP4 , and PDF files and I have FM radio where if I'm listening to a song I like I can add that song to the MP3 while Im listening to it. Sadly there is a huge downside to it. NO live services or new apps can be installed. in other words you are not getting iTunes, Audible , kindle etc on there nor can you put games on it. You can put audio books on it but downloads only. So on one hand I can have a big library of books, music or videos but on the other hand it's only specifically what I put on there and I wish I could do audible or a book thing like Kindle for it. That's pretty much my own MP3 player. What all do you all have Id love to hear all about it and if you love what ya got, think it's meh or feel likes a piece of junk you wanna throw against a wall. Let's keep this discussion going and find out what we all have and how we feel about them.
Drama Llama 905 August 8, 2024 Share August 8, 2024 (edited) Wow you made me start looking for my Creative Zen X-Fi 2... which still works! I really like/d it. + good sound quallity, micro SD card slot, you can watch MP4 files, listen to radio, play games... It was possible to install updates and new games when connected to PC but I guess the support has been dead for a long time - bad quality of touch screen (much worse than first Androids and iPhones). Turning up the volume was always a nightmare no longer supported by Creative Labs Edited August 8, 2024 by Finding_Marty 1 New friends (you)
Iforgotmybrain 7,567 August 10, 2024 Share August 10, 2024 So, technically my first MP3 player wasn't actually an MP3 player. It was a DSi, that was the first device I ever had that could play MP3s on it. You know I had all of Linkin Park's discography obtained from dubious sources on that bad boy. Eventually I got an iPod Touch 2 as well which, as a music device, was much better thanks to the ability to play both local files and music from iTunes. And also being much smaller than a full Nintendo DS lol. There was no SD card support though, thanks Apple. This was still way before streaming music services became a big thing so you pretty much had downloaded songs or stuff you bought from iTunes and that was all. There was Pandora radio but relative to modern streaming services you were pretty limited and it didn't have every artist or song. It was good device, served its purpose well before being dropped in water and dying (RIP). After the iPod Touch I only ever had smartphones, so they served as my MP3 players. There's still something very charming about dedicated music players though, even if they've become a bit obsolete.

Never heard of that... I'm glad we now have all these streaming platforms at a reasonable price 1 New friends (you)
ZiggWheelsManning 14,036 August 11, 2024 Share August 11, 2024 Brings back memories of my thin mini-sized Zen player. The thing died almost a year old. 1 Special thanks to Emerald Heart for the banner!
KPackratt 973 August 22, 2024 Share August 22, 2024 Last month, I got an AKAMATE 16GB MP3 player from my dad's friend who gave us boxes of stuff he didn't need anymore, it has become my new main MP3 player replacing the Nextar 2GB USB thumb drive shaped MP3 player that I got for Christmas in 2009. I also have a Sandisk Sansa 2GB MP3 player which I got from the same person I got the AKAMATE from.
Edward630 11 September 2 Share September 2 I’ve been using a FiiO M6 for a while, and I really like it for its sound quality and compact design. I usually load it up with FLAC and MP3 files, and it handles playlists really well. One thing that’s helped me a lot is using DumpMedia Any Music Converter to convert tracks into compatible formats before putting them on the player—it makes the whole library much easier to manage. I love having a little device dedicated just to music—it’s nice not having to mess with my phone all the time. Curious to hear if anyone else uses converters like this or has found neat tricks for organizing their MP3 players!

Fluttershutter 3,140 20 hours ago Share 20 hours ago Are they "coming back" yet??? I see CD and tape players in stores these days, and of course records are huge now. I've been waiting for MP3 players. I miss having one! What's a good one to get? I still have hundreds of albums organized on my computer.
Clawdeen 24,099 7 hours ago Share 7 hours ago I still use my ipod touch and even have a backup for it when this one goes down. I'm determined to not have to pay to use Spotify, Apple Music, etc until I absolutely have to. I think Apple has really shot themselves in the foot by not rereleasing the iPod during the peak of the Y2K trend. 2 *Cult Classic But I Still Pop* *Tonight I'll Be Crooked* *I Can't See My Icon Or Signature*
Readers Longhaul 9,353 7 hours ago Readers Share 7 hours ago I had a Samsung YP-T9 MP3 player that traveled with me when I was on the road. It's given up the ghost recently as I can't get it to work properly anymore. It served me well over many years and many miles. 1 Signature wanted -- inquire within
Dawnshine Wonder 3,390 4 hours ago Share 4 hours ago Portable music players may have the advantage of superior battery life to smartphones, in addition to a balanced headphone output which depending on the power requirements of your headphones, could be useful, however modern headphones have such high sensitivity these days that it hardly matters anymore. Another feature to look for with portable music players which mattered to me, is SD card slot. I have one.
