My mom and I been watching my little pony fin every Wednesday because that when we both have days off

My mom loves musical shows and I want to show her Filli Vanilli but I'm scared  because in the bridge and school scene  Fluttershy is shown shaking her rump and I don't want her to think I'm weird for showing her the episode any advice?

Watch on I say.

Every show has uncomfortable scenes, granted. But I don't think there is need to fret in this case. I quickly looked up the episode to see what you were talking about and if its the scene at about 5 minutes in I deem it to be completely innocent and harmless :ButtercupLaugh: make no mention of it and I hope you enjoy your watch session together!

While I do understand where you are coming from I sincerely doubt your mother will think anything of it other than it being a cute scene, Fluttershy is simply enjoying the lovely singing, it is up to you my friend to not hold onto this thought in your mind, this is not an inappropriate shot in any way shape or from and it barely lasts 2 seconds in a pretty darn good episode.

I promise you it will only be awkward for you if you don't first challenge the thoughts that say it will be, there are some cringe worthy scenes throughout the show I will say are awkward to watch (Applejacks day off anyone?) but not for being inappropriate.

True she would think it's cute the scene where she is at the school kinda makes me worried since the scene is Big Mac and um you know

Also the bridge scene last 5 seconds

(Is AppleJack day off where she fixed the spa or something like that?)

Ah I see two scenes, but even still I'll stand by what I've said, these are scenes that were screened by a board of sensors to make sure it was suitable for the target audience of children, the suits deemed it innocent and all in good fun and I agree with their decision.

If it would ease your mind, maybe offer a little disclaimer before watching, "Mum I think you're gonna like this one its got some great singing although there is a weird scene or two it is still a really good episode"

Ah yes Applejacks day off is that episode with the spa, its mostly the absurd ways the writers chose to depict how she does her chores, it was outright unfaithful to AJ as a character and does a lot to undermine her reputation, sloppy writing. not a great episode in the eyes of many haha.

Isn't it the same board people that showed Discord getting his power taken away by Tirek (that wasn't a kid friendly scene) and wouldn't it make it more awkward to give my mom a disclaimer??

and Aj day off wasn't that bad it's better than any Spike episode

Oh hush now this scene? :twi: (I mean this respectfully)

I wouldn't say this is particularly hardcore, anyway I digress.

I do think it would be a nice episode for you two to enjoy together, I'll double back to my first suggestion that is to to draw no attention to the scenes you find uncomfortable and let them pass, while enjoying the rest of the episode and I also favour this option.

But if you still find yourself adverse to watching with your mother I suppose the third option is to just skip the episode, which I think is a bit of a shame :twi: Hopefully some others chime in soon, perhaps they will have some nice perspectives on the matter, might I call upon @Starlight Serenade to offer some words of wisdom?

Oh! I'd also like to extend a warm welcome to MLPF:PIPPIPHURRAY: I hope my words haven't come off as too harsh at all, I only mean to be sincere

I mean the bridge scene is innocent but the school scene is a bit much when Big Mac and her are shown in the same scene (talking about when you can see her in the window) I don't want to skip the episode (it's one of my favorites)

Hello there Azixa! Welcome to the MLPForums! We're so happy to have you here!!!

First off, it’s so awesome that you and your mom have a special bond over My Little Pony! It's great that you want to share an episode you love with her. I totally understand your concern about the scene with Fluttershy - it can feel awkward when you're showing something you like and a moment comes up that you're unsure how others will react to.

One thing to keep in mind is that your mom probably sees the show through the same lighthearted lens that you do. My Little Pony is known for its fun and quirky moments and chances are she’ll focus more on the positive message of the episode than that brief scene. You could also mention something like, "There’s a silly part coming up, but I love the message this episode has about stepping out of your comfort zone." That way, you put the focus on the bigger picture.

At the end of the day, the fact that you’re watching it together and sharing something you love is what’s important. Try not to worry too much and enjoy the moment with your mom. She’ll likely appreciate your passion for the show just as much as you appreciate sharing it with her!

Trust your instincts and remember, it’s the time spent together that counts. :D

It’s great to hear that you’re feeling a bit more calm about it now. You’re right; sometimes bringing up a potentially awkward scene can make it more noticeable, so it might be best to just let it play out and focus on the overall enjoyment of the episode. It’s awesome that you’re excited to share something you love with your mom. I’m sure she’ll appreciate your enthusiasm and enjoy the episode with you. If you have any more questions or need more support, feel free to reach out. Have a fantastic time watching together!

That sounds like a great idea to share your favorite episodes with your mom. For both of those episodes, you might want to think about what makes them special to you and what you think your mom might enjoy. I'm sure you two will have a great time :3

Both episodes have a few moments that could feel a bit awkward, just like Filli Vanilli. But if those episodes are special to you and you think your mom would enjoy the overall story and message, it’s definitely worth sharing them. Maybe you could just let the episodes flow naturally, and if anything feels off, you can always laugh it off or give a quick comment to lighten the mood.

At the end of the day, it’s about sharing something that means a lot to you, and I’m sure your mom will appreciate that more than anything.

It's going to be okay. If your mom has already seen parts of the show, I think she's going to be fine with watching those episodes. It's a completely fun show for kids, I don't think your mom is going to think badly of the show.
