The G5 series bible for My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, which Gillian Berrow created in 2021, has been shared online. The document contains detailed backstories and several ideas for the show that were previously not known. It was drafted on June 14, 2021, so some plans may have changed since then.

This post only contains some of the most interesting new details. The full 36-page document can be found here.

More in the original post. And a lot more in the show bible.

The backstory section on that document is really interesting, seems a fair bit different from what they ended up telling us in MYM. Which is probably for the best, I feel like people would complain even more about G5 "undoing" or "disrespecting" FiM with that full backstory. Also really like the ideas they had for season 2 and 3, more exploration and adventure would've been a good direction to take MYM imo.

G.M. Berrow confirmed at Trotcon that there were plans to introduce Bat Ponies, Griffins and other creatures into G5. Equestria Daily's Sethisto has more: https://www.equestriadaily.com/2025/07/bat-ponies-were-planned-for-mlp-g5.html

Some interesting information has arrived from the panel happening at Trotcon right now starring G.M. Berrow. Apparently, bat pony land was planned for generation 5 before it got cancelled. The writers wanted to expand to more side creatures like griffons and bats, but as you all know G5 has ended.

She also mentioned that she wanted Make Your Mark to be 2D, since it is difficult to get 3D assets, limiting what they could do.

I wonder if any of this will be rolled over into G6? Here's hoping... I still need my Halloween Town bat village.

From Equestria Daily: More Info on G5 Pony Bats, and Equestria Girls-like Concept Revealed!

We had ComradeSparkle from the EQD Discord ask a few more questions about what all we missed with G5 over at Trotcon, and it's pretty sad how extensive things might have been if it kept going.

This is a bit wordy, so find it all below!

Expanding on the Bat Pony Land [from] before, apparently each pony was going to travel to a different "creature" land to powerup magic necklaces, and for bats in particular it was planned to have Misty visit them. They didn't detail what all she'd get into while there, but that would have been a cute interaction for sure.

This all was going to start with Dragons and work through different side races. No kirin were planned though. Poor Kirin... They did say most of these were going to be pony-based races strictly due to the limits of having to create 3D assets. That complicates everything and is why G.M. Berrow originally wanted to go with 2D.

Apparently all of Make Your Mark season 2 was outlined, but things were canned in March of 2023, so everything was handed over to the Tell Your Tale team to do what they could with it over the shorts and specials. Basically we lost half of the planned MYM content from the cancelling.

The Tell Your Tale Team and Make Your Mark team exchanged ideas to keep things cohesive over coffee meetings essentially, which is how some characters like Senor Butterscotch appeared in MYM.

And finally, they had plans to do an Equestria Girls style thing with humanized ponies, but under a new name. Obviously we never even got a hint of that one on our end, but I wonder where they would have gone with it?

Anyway, that about covers it! If any other news arrives, I'll get another post up as always.

Can't really say what I think about all the ideas and concepts. But I do think it's very interesting to see more about the production, how much of what was made for the series was discarded. I haven't seen much of the news, but the little I've seen seems like a lot of things that were planned simply didn't come to fruition. I heard multiple times that they wanted to make more of Make Your Mark. You can see how advanced in production they were, something I said multiple times a year ago when TyT was still in its weekly Season 2 release. Everything planned for the First (and only) Season of MyM was already completed in 2022, and TyT showed us this. Season 2 of TyT was already being made while they were still working in the 2 final sets of episodes for MyM.

That's why throughout the latter half of TyT's first season a lot of awkward incoherences that just don't match MyM happen. Such as the Dragons showing up in a episode that is supposed to take place before the events where they are introduced. Some episodes with Opaline not really matching the time frame presented in TyT. Spike not showing up during TyT's version of the final battle against Opaline (likely because they had to use his 3D design as basis, which still didn't exist at the time)

That means they very likely worked on a lot of concepts, ideas in 2023 that didn't make into the final show or even any of its unreleased episodes. I'm just not sure if they worked in anything in 2024 (for TyT) since I remember hearing the production was already canceled in late 2023, correct me if I'm wrong, because that would make things even weirder, as I remember hearing that some people from the production suggested in 2024 that there would be more. That wouldn't be true considering MyM was canceled in Early 2023 and I also heard about production members saying in late 2023 that there would be more MyM (again, correct me if I'm wrong)

Also, is that official art or just a fan art you choose to illustrate the ideas? I don't see any images or descriptions related to character designs in the original post. The source for this image says it's just fan-art and that there's no official concept or descriptions for these characters: https://ponerpics.org/images/7220368?q=artist%3Ashad0w-galaxy

That seems to be semi-official pre-production art (subject to change) for Tell Your Tale. Are you sure that porter is just a fan and wasn't a member of the TYT production team? The latter is the impression that I get.

This is my first concept of it and it's subject to change as we work on it, we currently have no official concept or descriptions of Nocturnas, so this is 100% my own work.

@Otaku-sempai I admit this confused me, but I made some little research and I think i already got the answer:

  1. First, porter is just the one who uploaded these arts to the site, it's just a normal user.
  2. The artist is actually "shad0w-galaxy", she's an artist who likes to do G5 fan art. You can find her accounts on sites such as Twitter:
    (other accounts here:https://shad0wgalaxy.weebly.com/
  3. As far as I've seen, she doesn't say anywhere that she's someone who officially worked on the production of TyT or anything related to G5 or Hasbro.
  4. You can clearly see in some of her work that what she does is fan art, some literally are called "concept art", featuring designs for the "Ponyverse" or "Season 3", which is something that the production unlikely came even close to working on something official for it, at least in visuals: https://ponerpics.org/images/7219143?q=artist%3Ashad0w-galaxy
  5. Probably what confused you, but a lot of artists like to do art and make them look like concept arts for official productions, it's a recurring thing, their intention isn't to trick people or anything, they like do for fun and they warn when it's just fan art and not really official. This seems to be the case with this artist.
  6. And finally, she makes it very clear in the descriptions that what she does is art based on leaked official material. The reason it's written "subject to change as we work on it" is because she works in a G5 Revival Project, probably with friends and more people, there's even the link for their discord. That's why in the "bat ponies concept art" she says that it's 100% work from herself, because it's 100% a fan concept, she didn't use any official material as basis for it. It's meant to be part of this revival project, they collect what exists of official material based on the scrapped episodes, concepts, etc and do the rest to give some sort of finalization to it, so I think it's not even semi-official as it's 100% a passion project from fans who are trying to work with leaked official sources: https://ponerpics.org/images/7195434?q=artist%3Ashad0w-galaxy

Thats all, it's just part of a fan revival project where they use scrapped official material as basis for what they do, no involvement from people who worked in the official production. But feel free to do more research on this. It would be interesting to know if there's really anything official about this.

What? No, they said Bat ponies were planned to be introduced later on, but the series was cancelled before that. Read what's written in Otaku-Sempai's previous posts or in Equestria Daily:
