The Nickelodeon Crossover Video Games from Gamemill Entertainment

I’m a huge fan of Nickelodeon and I really enjoy the Nickelodeon crossover video games. (Except for Nickelodeon Party Blast and the first Nickelodeon Kart Racers) Even though they’re not the best in the world, I have tons of nostalgia for them. But I wanted to bring up something about the Nickelodeon crossover video games published by Gamemill Entertainment, not so much a critique about the games themselves, but rather the crossover element of them.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers (2018)

This game is bare bones in both gameplay and content. Only four Nickelodeon franchises are represented, SpongeBob SquarePants, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix (2020)

This was a huge improvement over the first game, in both gameplay and content. Seven more franchises are represented here. The Ren and Stimpy Show, Rocko’s Modern Life, CatDog, INVADER ZIM, Danny Phantom, Avatar, and The Loud House.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl (2021)

Every franchise from Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 gets represented in this game as well as five more. Aaahh! Real Monsters, The Wild Thornberrys, Jimmy Neutron, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Garfield.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway (2022)

14 new characters got added to this game, unfortunately, only four new franchises got represented. Aaahh! Real Monsters, Jimmy Neutron, My Life as a Teenage Robot, and Garfield. In addition, four characters got cut. Tommy Pickles, Angelica Pickles, Heffer, and Shredder. Angelica, Heffer, and Shredder got demoted to pit crew members and Tommy is just gone from the game period. Why the heck would you get rid of the main character from the show?

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 (2023)

Only two new franchises are represented, El Tigre and The Angry Beavers, however, two franchises got cut, Aaahh! Real Monsters and CatDog. In addition, 11 new characters got added, but 11 characters got cut. And the four DLC characters are from franchises that are already in the game. Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob, Zuko and Iroh from Avatar, and Rocksteady from TMNT. Why did they go with only Rocksteady and not have Bebop with him? Those two are almost never seen without each other.

At the end of the day, I still enjoy these games. (Except for the first Nickelodeon Kart Racers) But when it comes to the crossover element of them, I care less about how much representation one show gets and more about how many shows get represented. Also, All-Star Brawl 2, if you’re going to have five Avatar characters, then the least you could do is be a bit more diverse and not just make it two Avatars and three firebenders. I mean Toph was in the first game and she’s an earthbender. I guess we don’t necessarily need an airbender or waterbender since Aang and Korra are technically already those. (By that I mean they already come from those specific nations) And what about a nonbender character like Sokka, Suki, or even Asami?

If we ever get a Kart Racers 4 or All-Star Brawl 3, I hope we get more franchises like ChalkZone, Catscratch, Back at the Barnyard, and T.U.F.F. Puppy. I would say The Fairly OddParents, but Nelvana is the issue about that. And bring back Tommy as a playable character for Kart Racers 4.

It's crazy that FOP is nowhere to be seen in any of these given it was basically Nick's no.2 show for the longest time.

That said I do like the Smash Bros clones quite a bit, though you can really feel the shoestring budget. That said I still think the rosters are quite lacking. Credit where its due though, I'm glad they aren't doing only 90s and modern Nick, especially as someone who thinks the early 00s was Nick at its peak, so it makes me happy to see characters like Jenny, Danny, El Tigre, etc. That said I'd still like to see Henry/June from Kablam, Waffle from Catscratch, Mikey from Kappa Mikey, Kitty Katswell from TUFF Puppy,  Bloom from Winx Club, Hector or Miko from Glitch Techs, and finally Timmy Turner. Heck I'd like to see them some of the planned characters from the first game's concept art too(Reggie, Krumm, Wanda and Casey Jones were originally planned for example

Spoiler

If they were really cool though they'd give us Frankie Stein and Bumblebee since Nick worked on those reboots too

What's interesting is that Garfield & Friends aired in reruns on Nick, back in the late 1990s.

@Snoopy Fan

Is Nelvana the Canadian cartoon production company?  I think the FOP issue may have something to do with the troubling relationship between Nick and Butch Hartman.

Nelvana was responsible for distributing The Fairly OddParents outside the United States, and because of that, the Nicktoons Unite games were called SpongeBob SquarePants and Friends Unite in other countries. I don’t think the troubling relationship with Nickelodeon and Butch Hartman has anything to do with it because if it did than Danny Phantom wouldn’t be in the games either because both shows were created by Butch Hartman.
