How you became a fan of My Little Pony

As a long time fan of Anime and fiction writing, I always found myself depressed that girl's programming in the west always seemed to either be insipid twaddle, orr 22 minute toy ads bolstered by other toy ads (Looking at you, 1980's She-ra), so when I was told by a friend in a Sailor Moon fiction writing group that there was this new show based on the old My Little Pony toys of my childhood that had an empowering message of friendship and positivity, I was skeptical, especially when I watched the first episode and Purple Smart's mentor told her to get her nose OUT of the books.

I mean, I'm an autistic book nerd myself.

But I kept watching, and I saw all of these fundamentally flawed individuals come together and save the day, and still learned the values of friendship and teamwork, and I was hooked. for three seasons I watched the show and cringed every time Twilight or Fluttershy or AJ Pinkie dealt with the same foibles my own neurodivergent backside's dealt with in my 47 years. I truly identified with these characters. Not so much Rarity or Rainbow, mostly because I was never the athlete or the braggart, nor did I have any taste for fashion, mostly because the person I saw in the mirror always felt like a stranger (yay dysphoria!!)

But in short, I -wasn't- hooked at first, but slowly got drawn in. watching the characters grow as individuals warmed my heart, and that, overly long rambling is how I became a fan of My Little Pony

Oh, so this is where I'm supposed to post something? I'm sorry, I rambled on in the upper post. Sorry Princess Silky? I got caught up writing and didn't know if I was doing it right.
