Maxmillian 133 March 29 Share March 29 (edited) To me my favorite Japanese comics is Bleach. Ichigo grows up, looks cool and is a very creative series But One Piece has... (The anime itself is chill.. if you can ignore the constant Usopp yelling in Episode 4.. which at first was reason i turned the anime off back then) I watched up til Episode 143, because thats where 4kids ended the dub so it was my way of joking on it. But its also a fact that Luffy never ages that annoys me, like when is he gonna look as cool as Shanks? Or Jack Sparrows from Pirates of the Carribean? And one time in the series, he ends up looking like he is in a Megaman game for some reason? Which is really odd to me? Since isnt the whole asthethics about 17th century piracy? (I mean someone wearing Red sneakers was odd in beginning episodes) But i can kinda avoid that with the fact that the manga artist was high on something then. But even so. The art from Episode 1-263 was really good interms of the anime. I heard from someone the anime art itself got worse after Opening 6. So the Manga or One Piece netflix live adaptation is overall recommended i heard. While i am at it. Nitpick (Hated ending 2 that lasted forever. Whereas Ending 3 was really good and lasted really short... i mean WHYyyyy O_O) However i will never forget this legendary classic parody opening of opening 6 But whats your view? My view is you are completely wrong. I am not telling you or anyone to watch One Piece. There is a reason it is the highest selling manga, I will explain it now. Spoiler Warning ⚠️ So One Piece starts off with the east blue saga. Which introduces all of us to the Strawhat Pirates. Part of the charm of one piece is that you feel like your part of the crew. You are going on a journey with luffy from island to island. You get to know each of the characters and why they do what they do. The One Piece anime was good then bad then good again. This is because it is being produced by toei. The characters do change, though it is way later in the series. Luffy will grow, but do not just expect that in all anime. If you could even stand watching that much of the 4kids dub you have my respect. The creator of One Pieces name is Eiichiro Oda. Of what I know disregarding 1000 year blood war a lot of bleach and naruto was actually filler. I apologize about the art issue, I hope maybe you will give the series another shot. The creativity and effort put into this series is amazing.

I mean... how can you decline solid voice cast like this in the 4kids dub I honestly would have watched the entire anime if 4kids still dubbed the show. Because this is hilarious to me.

Mlaatr fan2 222 March 29 Share March 29 I am actually very passionate about One Piece because it literally saved my life. It changed my view of the earth in a positive way. But it also changed how I look at others and how I should respect them. 1
RafaStaryStory 3,680 March 29 Share March 29 The only thing I can say about One Piece is that I'll probably never watch it because it has more than 1000 episodes and I don't have such patience to go through all of them, I know there might be a lot of filler, but still, I prefer watching shorter series. Also, the pirate thematic isn't one of the most interesting to me, not really a fan of it ~☆ 1 "Stand quiet like the Sky, and Move faster than Lightning" Follower of the ultimate power, spirit, divine dreams and wishes of the Heavenly Eastern Angels of Stars (Starys), Husband of Mary, The Eastern Stary. But this show is more exploring, meeting new people, and developing relationships. However I understand the show is very long. There are a lot of anime that are amazingly made in just 12-24 episodes.

Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,885 March 30 Share March 30 (edited) My biggest issues with One Piece are thus; 1. It is extremely long, to a fault. While I can respect the fact that this has been one continuous story for 25 years or so, it makes wanting to actually start it feel like too much of a major commitment. 2. Every villain feels the same after a point. Each one boils down to "Big bad telling everyone how bad they are for 20-100 episodes while they kill nobody, then they get beaten". It makes them feel like no threat in the grand scheme of things. I personally prefer villains that actively prove that they are an immense and dangerous threat. Sadly, they cannot do that much because they clearly want to stay in that low-end TV-14 age rating. One can say that this is what most villains are in most things, and that many western cartoons have villains without violence, both fair points. I just feel that anime is a genre that is able to do so much more. Castlevania is the ultimate proof of that for me, and that show isn't even Japanese. 3. Typical Japanese anime clichés. So many characters are just one note archetypes and there is too much unneeded silliness in different moments, doesn't have a great balance in my opinion. Over the years, I've become heavily critical of Japanese anime. Too many of the shows fall under the same clichés, and even if they don't, some just write themselves into the ground, like Attack On Titan. Absolutely despised the ending of AoT, and it was what made me lose my passion for much of the genre. There are other shows that are very much adult rated because of brutal violence, yet end up having extremely immature and unfunny humour as well, like JoJo's Bizarre Adventures Stardust Crusaders. I give up on anime shows fairly easily because of stuff like this. Edited March 30 by Kyoshi Frost Wolf

I just can't connect to the genre anymore like many others can. One Piece is definitely better than a lot of other things in anime. The countless "sex appeal sells" shows are bottom of the barrel, and OP is waaaaaaaaay above those.

Mlaatr fan2 222 March 30 Share March 30 (edited) *breathes heavily* OK XJ-9, just lower your aggressive tone. Ok, so as I said earlier in the thread One Piece is quite literally an adventure. One Piece is an art of fiction and is not about the characters but the time we get to spend with them. It is not a typical pirate anime. There is a very large world with mysteries, and unexpected connections. As for the villians some are considered by the world to be the strongest and some are based off Micheal Jackson. The anime has long recaps and poor animation for a long time. This is both the fault of Toei. I know the series is long and not for everyone but One Piece holds some beautiful locations. The show can be too fanservicy at times. But One Piece literally has built a whole new world(not the new world) to explore. The interactions between characters can be so heartwarming to me. But that is only my opinion, I would love to hear any thoughts or theories. Edited March 30 by Mlaatr fan2
