Any fan of MLP:FiM will be a fan of this series. It's less humorous than MLP, but where it lacks comedy, it makes up for in thrills. The series consists of five novels, all surrounding the magical island of Mistmantle, which is covered in a thick veil of mist; anyone who leaves may never return. The first book (Urchin of the Riding Stars) concerns Urchin as he gets a job in the Tower, the central political power of Mistmantle, where he meets the three Captains: Captain Husk, Crispen, and Padra, who all serve under King Brushen. The novel details political turmoil as Husk attempts to overthrow King Brushen, who is slowly growing older and more delusional, easily manipulated by Husk. Books 2, 3, 4, and 5 all follow and are just as great as the first.
