Cutie Marks

So I have been kind of confused with cutie marks. I understand that they are supposed to be a sign of the pony's very special talent. At the same time though some of them are really confusing. Like Diamond Tiara's seems more just about her name. And the same for Feather Wing. What exactly is their special talents? Do they even have special talents? Just something that I wanted to see what other bronies thought about it.

Note: Cutie Marks are not to be taken literally (how do you take tattoo literally? idk lol)

 

Fluttershy's Cutie Mark is three butterfly, but her talent was connection with animals as a whole. Pinkie Pie's cutie mark is three balloons, yet her talent is partying and make others smile. Cutie Mark wasn't meant to symbolize talent directly, I believe it's the case with Diamond Tiara and Feather Wing and many other ponies

 

In my opinion, Diamond Tiara's special talent is about leadership (hence the headgear), it was symbolized with shiny bits so her father made her a custom tiara just for her. There's a fanfic about this, can't really remember which one

 

Feather Wing's Cutie Mark might symbolized a 'fleet-floot-ness', able to slip around unnoticed. He could easily took a snapshot from Celestia's guilt pleasure for heaven's sake!

They are not meant to be taken literally. Cheerilee's is happy flowers, but her talent is making her students "bloom".

 

Diamond Tiara and Feather Wing's are the same, they symbolize something. Don't know what Diamond's symbolizes, but Feather Wing's is supposed to represent fleet-footed-ness, as Dreamwalker said.

I agree like there names match their cutie marks like are ponies secretly physic like name their children after their future cutie marks?. I never understood either. Anyway I would always joke and say Diamond Tiara is the Princess of al spoiled brats
