Blog Statistics

Now, I'm assuming this might be a little hard to do. It's more of a technical thing, and even then, not many people even use blogs, so it won't be that useful to them. So while I do think it's a neat idea, please don't bother if it takes too much time out of your day. Since Scootacool is the only guy in the R&D department, it'd be stupid to make him focus on something that won't be used often(I'll use it a lot though), by everyone.

 

Now, as you guys know, when accessing a profile, there's this whole list to the left of your profile.

What I'm going to focus is on the stats bar.

 

Now, to be honest, the stats bar is pretty bare, and I've made a few suggestions to Scoot already on it (sorry for closing the ticket! I was thinking you can reply to it, while close). But I think, it would be very neat, if we could add a few more things to it, that's related to blogs.

 

1) An average rating (rating per entry rated). Would be useful to see how popular a blog is (I recommend having number of ratings next to it).

2) An average comment (comments per entry). Useful to see if there's a discussion going on, whenever a blog is posted, or if it's pretty wild west desert like.

3) An average view per entry (views per entry). An ego boost for the poster.

4) Top 5 rated entries. Now I know that many entries have similar star ratings. So, how about if they have the same star rating, the number of 5 stars sees who goes on top or not. If 5 stars are even, go to four stars,etc.

6) Now, this is my favorite, graphs. Graphs everywhere. We should have a view-time graph. And a rate of change graph for that. Would be interesting to see if the blog is being viewed more and more.

 

 

Oh and I know this is a little off topic, but could we have an option to sort entries (in a blog) by rating and number of comments?

 

Well, those are my suggestions. I wouldn't expect them to be added, considering it's more of a technical problem. But I can't start unbelieving in the power of Scootacool, now can I?

Absolutely brilliant ideas. The reason I don't post much on the blogs is because there isn't really many technical statistics that are employed into the blog system, and I love seeing all the statistics on a blog. I'm not entirely sure how compatible it is with IP.Blog, but you never know, maybe Scoots can work on something.

The blog feature has taken off, really, really well. I certainly think additions like these could be taken into account, seeing as how the blogs are so popular. Some good suggestions :3
