silvadel 1,393 September 13, 2012 Share September 13, 2012 When I saw a babylon 5 reference in a fanfic, I realized something. One of the stronger reasons that My Little Ponies FIM is a really good show is that it really isnt about Good vs Evil -- it is a Law(Harmony) vs Chaos(Disharmony) tale. Yes the "tilt" of the morality is a little less than square (It is about 10 degrees tilted -- Law+good and Chaos+evil), but regardless I have always found Law vs Chaos stories more compelling because there isnt necessarily a "best" side. IE in B5 the answer was to overturn BOTH sides. Here there is still enough doubt that even the strongest adversaries arent necessarily beyond redemption, and that the hero side isnt beyond temptation/falling even without losing the Harmony aspect, just the tilt. Babylon 5 wasn't about Law=Good, it was about peace and tolerance. In fact Earth had many draconian laws and the "Good" thing to do was to rebel against the law. S.V.R. Stop. Violent. Recreation, I know it's tuff but let's all try to stop playing violent videogames, violent TV, violent thinking, and just violence in general. FiM is a LAW+good vs CHAOS+evil story. It is a few degrees off babylon 5 which was a pure Law vs Chaos story with neither side having any bias towards good or evil. Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight. The Kosh were all about maintaining order and the shadows were all for chaos. But both of them wreaked nothing but destruction in their path, and were eventually kicked out of the galaxy. Capt Sheridan (the good guy) constantly broke the "Law" in order to maintain the greater good, like a completely corrupt government and predjudice laws regarding telepaths. At first he begrudgingly obeyed the rules but later he went on an all out war against the government. So no, it's not about Law vs. Chaos in the sense that any of the good guys belong to either party. I think you are confusing Bablyon5 with Andromeda. S.V.R. Stop. Violent.
