Forlong's MLP fannon part 1: Before Equestria

I've seen a few of these already, so I thought I'd do my own to tie us over while we wait for season 3. Shall we?

 

Unknown Era (2200+ years ago)

 

In ages long forgotten by modern ponies, there was no written languages. Only the oral tradition, and even those songs have long since been forgotten. Art from this time period depicts the three pony tribes standing against a malformed creature of unknown origin. Archeologists have named this creature "The Unknown" and believe that the tribes were independent prior to the appearance of The Unknown. Unable to defeat it alone, the tribes united to vanquish their foe, and from that came the first treaty between the three tribes. Shortly there-after, the Pegasi and Earth Ponies took up Unicorn script and made written records, bringing an end to the Unknown Era.

 

Pre-Classical Era (c 2200-1900 years ago)

 

More records were kept in this time period, so much more was known. Ponies told tales of Alticorns, who they believed to be the first ponies. In this time, a unicorn named Star Swirl became an unprecedented master of magic. He mastered and created more spells than any other Unicorn ever. He was greatly respected by all tribes, but even he could not stop the strife that came between them. The tribes had forgotten the reason they needed each other and began to despise and distrust the other tribes. This attracted the Windigos to the land, who caused a harsh Winter that lasted for years.

 

Star Swirl advised that a counsel of the leaders should be held to find a solution. Chancellor Puddinghead was the only tribe leader that was actually able to make it. King Gold had fallen deathly ill and sent his oldest child, Princess Platinum, in his stead. Fuhrer Thunderhead feared a trap and made an excuse not to go personally; sending Hurricane, Commander of the Scouting Division, to represent him.

 

The counsel was a disaster and only widened the rift between the tribes. As such, each tribe went out to find a new home. Puddinghead took Smart Cookie and several work ponies, Commander Hurricane was sent his best squad of scouts (including Private Pansy), and Princess Platinum went out with some of Starswirl's students including Clover the Clever, his prize pupal. Star Swirl needed to use his magic to heal the King regularly, so he could not come with the Princess.

 

The three groups claimed the same area and began arguing again, drawing the Windigos to the new land. They retreated to a cave, but still argued endlessly. The Windigos could see that they would soon come to blows and opted to freeze them at the height of their rage and feed off it forever. The three leaders were the first to go, as they were the most angry. Once the Pegasi squad saw the Windigos, they attacked. Only Private Pansy stayed aground, being paralyzed with fear. After the Pegasi were frozen, the Unicorns tried to hold back the Windigos while the Earth Ponies freed the others, but the power of the rage the Windigos absorbed allowed them to overpower the ponies. Soon, only Clover, Smart Cookie, and Pansy were left. When they reconciled with each other, Clover's magic overloaded and created the Fire of Friendship. The flaming heart banished the Windigos from the cave and melted the ice within.

 

Once freed form the ice, the ponies apologized to each other and worked together to gather food needed to save their tribes. Princess Platinum, Chancellor Puddinghead, and Private Pansy when with several other ponies and the Fire of Friendship in hopes of saving their homes. Commander Hurricane, Clover the Clever, and Smart Cookie stayed behind with the rest to set up farms to continue sending supplies to their tribes. They returned in time to save their tribes from starvation, but not to save King Gold, who died shortly before his daughter's return. The new Queen invited all ponies to stay in the Unicorn Keep, where she could more easily protect them with the Fire of Friendship. The commanding Pegasi refused the offer, which gave the Windigos plenty of anger to feed off of. While Queen Platinum could keep them away, she could not banish them. As such, once the ponies were fit enough, they made for the new joint colony.

 

Once there, Commander Hurricane became the new Fuhrer of the Pegasi. There were some Unicorns that hoped to make the other tribes subservient to them, but Queen Platinum banished them. After this, Chancellor Puddinghead advised that they form a Pony Counsel that would insure that the three tribes remain in harmony. The counsel was made and the country of Equestria founded. The exact date is unknown, but was about 1900 years ago. Star Swirl died of natural causes shortly after the founding, and his death was 1894 years ago.

Good, always great to see more members taking off on the 'Long-ass head canon' idea that I did a while back, as well. I do have to say though, why would you need to put up another topic? I recommend not. Just edit the first post when you want to add more, or add more in a future post. There's really no need to go and make another topic for another section.
