Notifications for the Canterlot Castle section?

I'm sorry if there is already a thread for this.

 

What if notifications could be sent you when there is a new thread in Canterlot Castle for newcomers to be aware of? I know that all members are expected to update themselves on new information in that section, but some of my friends almost missed out on the donor perks that were given for the celebration of MLP forum's birthday. I think a lot of users are unaware of the importance of the Canterlot Castle section, and may not even know that the Canterlot Castle section even exists. I wouid see a lot of members just waiting around in the RP world and aren't checking the section for any important changes to the site.

 

This is only what I was thinking, but I do check Canterlot Castle every few days.

This can be done quite easily by hitting the "Follow this Forum" button floating just above the board. It's very handy and I use it for some things myself. This makes it so you can opt-in to it instead of automatically receiving notifications about something you might not necessarily want to see.

Oh... How silly of me to not notice that , but some new users may still not be aware of the section. They might not be aware of the 'Follow this Forum' button and could easily be on their merry way. Edited October 11, 2012 by Cherry Blossom

Getting people to be aware of Canterlot Castle announcements has, in fact, been a much greater challenge than it should be. Important stuff is announced there and it can get annoying when a change is made and people start asking "Huh? When did [X] happen?" before checking the official announcements board.

 

At the moment, I am considering setting up every single member to follow Canterlot Castle automatically after registration; site announcements would then be an opt-out thing rather than an opt-in thing. I'm not sure if people would find this useful or annoying, however.

I think it would be very useful for every member to follow Canterlot Castle. Besides, I would prefer over a dozen notifications rather than ruin my perfect streak of no warning points. It would be for the best your highness, admins, and moderators so they won't have to fork over making a post about what any of the members did wrong.

 

This is just my opinion.
