Question for fellow forum members

So I haven't been active on here for a few months or so, and I am considering being an active member again, but I feel like I have missed a lot of stuff and I feel like I don't really fit in here anymore...I don't know any of the newer members on here, and I don't feel like I really belong here anymore, so I don't know what to do. Also I'm afraid I will become addicted to the forums again and I would really rather that not happen. I kind of miss posting on here and talking to some of the people I knew on here, but it seems like I haven't really been missed since I was gone, so I don't know if it's even worth becoming active again. I've also lost some of my interest in MLP and the brony community, although I am definitely gonna watch season 3. What do you guys think I should do?

(By the way, I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this so yeah)

It's perfectly natural to feel out of sync when you've been gone for a while, so saying 'I don't feel connected anymore' is not a reason to slink away, it's a reason to take the initiative to re-establish yourself. It's not like you're some new Blank Flank, you're a regular who simply became inactive for a while. If you start spending time here again I don't doubt you'll lose that feeling of alienation.

Also, 'feeling like you haven't been missed' is silly. If you had friends here, people who knew you, they'll remember you, and be happy you're active again, end of story ^^

As for being addicted, it's not a 'I should be here 24/7' or 'I won't be here at all'. It's fully possible to find the medium of that by spending time here, and getting yourself to walk away and do other things when you begin to feel like you've been sitting on here all day. I think you should come back and reestablish yourself. It will get rid of your alienation, and your 'lack of interest' in the fandom is in reality just you having nothing new to interest you, since season three isn't here yet. Once it is, I bet that too will change.

That's very true, thanks for the advice :)

First and foremost, glad to see you back!

Your situation is pretty understandable. Not being on a forum which you were active for quite a bit takes you out of a rhythm and when you come back, it's natural to feel out-of-sync and slightly dysfunctional, even. There have been a lot of changes here there which aids your point, but the heart and soul of the site still remains. We're still the same community you took a break from, more or less - I think we've all been affected by the long wait for season three, but now that it's right around the corner, we have a whole lot to celebrate. When you take a big break, though, it's like being a football player and having a big injury - you're forced to sit out for a few months and that takes you out of pace with the rest of your team and team-mates. They could try something new in your absence and you'll be forced to learn it, but it's never too difficult to re-integrate yourself into things. Just a little patience and do what you normally do. In time, you'll be feeling back to your normal self!

Whoa...dude, what happened? I remember you (of course, why wouldn't I? :3). It's been quite a while, and I'm very surprised and happy to see you again!

And I do know what you feel. Recently, I've been unusually inactive compared to a certain other forum I go to, but the thing is I love both equally. Now, while the fact that it might possibly be that forum's software's user-freindliness, I think it should all be balanced otherwise. Even though it is currently a hiatus for the show, the fandom backs it up and keeps it from dying, which is all the more reason to be here just as much. The activity here will positively explode in less than 2 weeks. I'm sure by then, both your confidence and mine will be skyrocket and will be posting here a lot more before you know it.

And don't worry about being addicted to a community website. That's all the fun there is to it, becoming one with your fellow peers, and just enjoying yourself. The only thing you shouldn't let yourself do is get distracted from the important things in life, like homework, family, etc. other than that, sit back, relax, and get posting!

My journey in the fandom started on April 5, 2012. I joined here on April 24, 2012. Where that journey is headed now, who knows...
