Triffidicus 13 December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 (edited) Wondering do I need permission to read a story on youtube, or can I just do it without permission. I mean videos like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4GrPHkaik0 Also any tips on how to read them really well, like putting emotion into it? Should I do character voices like that guy does or what? Edited December 4, 2012 by Triffidicus
StingeMuffin 244 December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 I would ask for permission from the author, just to be extra-sure that they're okay with it (I'd imagine most would have no complaints about free advertisement, but you never know...). At the very least, make sure to tell them that you've made a video, and give them a link to it so they can view it if they want. I don't see anything wrong with putting more emotion and feeling into reading a piece, so long as it doesn't come off as melodramatic or overly silly. Why not have some fun with voices, and help the listener paint a more vivid picture of the scene in their head? Imagine, if you were blind, how you would feel listening to a guy/girl talking with the same tone throughout an entire story. Where would the monotony begin and end? Silverwisp the Bard 2,354 December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 What Muffin said. The fact people put up stuff on the internet usually they're fine with other people using it. However asking permission is the polite way to do do it. My Art Thread, updated (almost) daily Tomorrow will take us away, far from home No one will ever know our names But the bard songs will remain.
