Genepool 224 January 24, 2013 Share January 24, 2013 I'm progressing steadily with some work, though i'm still stuck to being a bad artist since i'm tracing screenshots from the show. Anyways, as the title says, I could use some help with shading information. Piece Link Want to know if those shadows are alright. I'm working on version 2.0 right now and added in Derpy's mail bag with some better shading on the front hooves with some on the Pizza Box. Though i've got tons of materials in my tutorial help favorites menu ( Example Clickie Linkie Thingie ), i'm still a novice. If anyone can offer up some advice, I would be appreciative. Also, bit of shameless promotion here, I don't normally do requests, but I won't have a problem working on a person's OC if they want. Only thing to note is I will use pen tool lines from screen caps for the poses, after which i'll modify them for manes, tails, and eyes.
Flicker 141 January 24, 2013 Share January 24, 2013 (edited) Hmm... this is nice, but the shading on her leg is rather jarring. Have you tried the blur tool or the gradient tool? Also, what program are you using? Replicant 113 January 24, 2013 Share January 24, 2013 You could either get rid of the shading on the front right leg entirely OR make it smaller and add it to the rest of Derpy's body (coming up from the bottom); remember your light source is the moon (top right of the picture), so the shadow should be on the bottom left of the objects you're shading. Also, like Amber Sands said, the shadow is a bit dark. You wouldn't have to lighten it too much, though, because the moonlight looks like it is pretty bright. So far so good, though! It's a really cute idea!
Genepool 224 January 24, 2013 Author Share January 24, 2013 (edited) Hmm... this is nice, but the shading on her leg is rather jarring. Have you tried the blur tool or the gradient tool? Also, what program are you using? I'm using Photoshop CS5 right now. I can update the image to give everyone a much clearer idea of what i'm doing right now. For the shading, I use a cutout style from a multiply layer + a mask layer for shading in the 2.0 version. Edit Here's version 2.0. I made some modifications to the two hooves, her wings, and added in some light flares to the mane, tail, and her wings. Also added in the dutiful mail mare's mail bag, careful of the shading, and added in a moon reflection to her eyes. Picture Link Only thing I "might" do is add in a light flare to all her feathers instead of just the top ones. Again, all help is appreciated.
