BronyPony 575 January 27, 2013 Share January 27, 2013 (edited) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjKlajRZAyc There isn't much to say at the moment, however there are a few things to bring up. This is a game called Super Smash Magic, which is in fact 3D, and it is supposed to be something similar to the Super Smash Bros. series, but in ponified form. So far, there isn't much besides a test stage, the first character being a human version of Twilight, and a static AI that doesn't attack. Because of the lack of development that would make it a bit fun, the game is not released yet, however I do need some help. I will need the following to join in the development of the game: Music Composers - Zermu Voice Actors(character voices) Sound effects Artists(graphics designers) Programmers(only a few) - BronyPony A lot of the development will mainly be done in the graphical parts because the engine itself is pretty much finished besides a few glitches. Platforms will be added soon enough and items will definitely be coming soon. The release of the game will probably be no later than February 23rd. Hope some people are interested in joining the team in the development. If you have any questions, just post them here. Again, sorry for no release at the moment. However, I may choose some to test the game during the time between now and the 23rd of February. EDIT: Sorry for the bad video quality. I was not able to use a high quality video recording for screen recording. Also, a lot of the stuff seen is going to be replaced with the real content(besides the characters, but they may go through some modifications as well). Mushy Giant Friend 206 January 27, 2013 Share January 27, 2013 For the voice actor job things, which characters will need voicing? I'd like to help, but I don't know how to do any of the other things you've mentioned. (I used to be Sapphire until I drank some cactus juice.) BronyPony 575 January 28, 2013 Author Share January 28, 2013 (edited) For the voice actor job things, which characters will need voicing? I'd like to help, but I don't know how to do any of the other things you've mentioned. I would need voice actors mainly for the mane 6 and then for the other known characters such as Discord, Celestia, Cadence, and Sombra(there are way more such as Shining Armor). Well, here comes a new update with more features. In this update, there are more characters(just added Fluttershy and Applejack) and the stage is new and the new stage will be included in the full game(but many updates to it will occur). A lot of the images used in this development stage are replacements for the actual thing because of the lack of artists on the team. Also, some characters added to the game may not appear in the actual game(however, the current ones will be in the final version). There will be unlockable characters(mostly background pony characters). Here is a video displaying some of the game mechanics so far. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMHzgGvG1wU&feature=youtu.be Again sorry for the really bad quality video footage. There will be definitely more added to the next development, such as a character selection and stage selection. Once we get a graphics designer we will have better graphics in the game. We will be accepting testers if users send me a PM about signing up for testing, however there will only be a select few to be chosen from(spec of your PC will be judged in the selection). If you are accepted as a tester you will be added to the credits in the game. If you have any questions or comments just post them below. The game, again, is not going to be released until February 23rd because we want to give the game a good start as having good quality gameplay. EDIT: We decided to release this development since we need testers. Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?h0gqtio619uqu8e I keep forgetting to give information about controls. Silly me. Controls: - Left/Right arrow key: movement left and right - Up arrow key: jump - X: Standard attack Give any suggestions and report bugs. Here are a few more screenshots for the release to come. And, yes the game's name is being changed to Magic Brawl because there is already a game called Super Smash Ponies. Mordenheim 26 January 28, 2013 Share January 28, 2013 This looks like it will be really awesome! Even though you put a lot more work into it that I am, I'm glad to see someone else putting humanized ponies in a game. Check it out!
BronyPony 575 January 29, 2013 Author Share January 29, 2013 (edited) This looks like it will be really awesome! Even though you put a lot more work into it that I am, I'm glad to see someone else putting humanized ponies in a game. Thank you. Most of this is the engine in development. Once the engine is completely finished, there will be other effects added to make the graphics more exciting more features, stages, and items will be added. Also, I am working on the AI so at least a real battle can be fought so we can release the first alpha version. I am still looking for music composers, artists, sound effects, and artists. Another update of the layout of the game. More screenshots pretty much. More screenshots coming soon. Everything is still subject to change so things will look better in the future. The rest of the Mane 6 were added as well. Edited January 29, 2013 by BronyPony
Motion Spark 7,807 January 29, 2013 Share January 29, 2013 I don't understand.. what kind of engine are you using, did you made the 3D models from scratch or everything is given by the engine. It's an awesome idea, but the physics are awful and the animations terrible, I don't want to be an ass, I really don't but I'm a huge smash fanboy, these are my favorites games, and I'm ultimately picky when it comes to rip-offs of these games, only 1 game has passed the test for me, and it's fan made. Anyways, I wish you the best of lucks for this project. My OC's: Motion Spark || Beat Spark || Rosebelle Sorry, I don't take REQUESTS!

Anyways, I wish you the best of lucks for this project. All the 3D models were made from scratch(with some help from other models). The engine was completely made by me. Yes, this is pretty much a work in progress and I have to admit it does lack the abilities of a full 3D super smash brothers Brawl graphics quality. However, with lack of artists and music composers and such it is kind of what I can work with at the moment. The Super Smash Brothers Series has been made with the help of millions of developers, designers, and modelers and they had the money to gain access to the best technologies available at the time. Unfortunately, I don't have that budget. I am working with what I have, and in my opinion it is pretty good considering the small amount of time that it was made in with the development stage, But thank you for the criticism. It is greatly appreciated and I will continue to develop until it is good enough to be a great game.

I'm curious, when you seek for artists what do you really mean? an graphic artist or a 3D modeler, these 2 are very diferent. Also what program do you use for the 3D and what program do you use for programming and putting everything together? My OC's: Motion Spark || Beat Spark || Rosebelle Sorry, I don't take REQUESTS! Mainly 2D artists since I have skill in 3D modeling already and such. I use mostly anim8or to position models, but use Blender to model. I use GML to put the game together and C++ for the engine and such.

I'm not gonna lie, Super Smash Bros already has a VERY complex engine, based mostly in physics and advanced math that boosts the damage increasing system. I know my things about programming, but I never learned C++ but if you ask get together with someone that knows math and physics, maybe you can have a better hit/response system for the characters. I am an artist (I wish I knew 3D, I used 3DSMax Studio but nothing deep) but I just can't commit to this game because I have a lot of responsabilities. Thank you, I already know how to implement physics into 3D games. As I said before, the engine itself is still in development, mostly it is at a working stage. More people being part of the team would be nice though. I still need help with art and music composition.
