defaultremix 50 March 5, 2013 Share March 5, 2013 (edited) Hey guys I am a new brony and I have made my first pony art following some tutorials online and finishing it on gimp. I have uploaded the finished version from gimp and the original drawing. Please comment! Edit: Also I am going to work on the colours some more so keep your eyes out for that in the future. AngryUnicorn 163 March 5, 2013 Share March 5, 2013 Not too bad. I have a question: did you first sketch it out by hand, or with a software? I'm not too sure on how to do drawings using a computer program, but i do see some faint, pencil-colored lines in the precolored version. ¯\(°_o)/¯i dunno lol

That is the best way to do it unless you have a graphics tablet. Deviantart

That is the best way to do it unless you have a graphics tablet. So that's how you do it... lol I don't personally own a scanner (I should look into one) so I use a camera :/. I do have some constructive criticism for you though 1: Always take your time. I'm not sure how long you spent on the sketches or anything, but I can assure you that the longer you take on drawing things out the better it's going to look. I spend on average 1-3 hours (depending on the amount of detail I put in) on each individual drawing I do. PS: I do traditional drawing, no computer programs. 2: Some of your proportions are a little... off. Take a look at some more basic ponies and positions and look at how big/small their body parts are compared to one another. 3: The face lacks some detail. Not too shabby for a first Fan Art. I'm POSITIVE you'll get a lot better after practice! I'm still learning how to master the body proportions 1 ¯\(°_o)/¯i dunno lol
Blaaaze 100 March 5, 2013 Share March 5, 2013 That's not so bad but if you want here is some advice) When I started drawing(a loooong long time ago, 5 years, and then, unfortunatly I stopped after a year)so, when I started drawing i tried to go for a sketch first. It's some basic shapes connected to each other with some basic limbs anatomy(don't bother). The sketch is dirty. always. Don't be afraid of it to be dirty, and do not step over to drawing a cleaner version over the sketch, before you have checked all the proportions^^ It's harder to do on paper, but still possible) ligtly sketch with a pencil till you are saticfied, then remove all the useless lines and polish the drawing) Good luck out there) 1 Sig made by the Good ShyFluttersOn

Thanks Don't really care for the colors) just some light and shade does the job^^ I am still earning back my drawing skills(my drawings look kinda poor now) and i have a lot of trouble adjusting the angles of light and shadows Sig made by the Good ShyFluttersOn
