Changing Mailmares Welcoming Message

I thought Id propose a change to the Mailmares opening message to new members, to provide a little more help then it already does....

 

This is the current message:

Thanks for joining MLP Forums! I'm happy to welcome you to our community. You'll find many kind members here eagerly waiting to welcome you! Smiley

Before posting, there are two things I strongly recommend you take a moment to acquaint yourself with:

The first is our Official Resource Map. It's a centralized hub of resources that should help you from feeling lost.

Below is a small list of helpful things to know, to assist in establishing yourself in our community:

Are you an artist? A musician? A programmer? A video editor? Or maybe a fan fic writer? In dedicated section for just that! Be sure to read the guide if you're new to roleplaying) before diving in though!
Our member signatures have the following size restrictions: 1 image (600 x 100 px), 5 URLs, and 5 lines of text
If you have any questions about the site, just introducing yourself. cool.png

No I changed a few things up so that its worded slightly better. I also added 2 links I think. Even though there WERE already some links in it.... It just felt like it needed a few more tips to help new members...

I like some of the changes you made, Dawn Rider, and have updated the message accordingly. How does this look?

 

I like it

Perhaps we could add the Avatar Shop aswell to go along with the signature shop?

 

Other then that, It seems pretty much like I envisioned myself

I specifically chose to leave out certain things as they're already exclusively mentioned in detail in the Resource Map, which is the very first thing linked x3 But I suppose everyone has different preferences.

Well of course......but in our day and age people tend to ignore the larger stuff (unfortunately because I LOVE the Resource Map) and get straight to the point, so at the very least it's nice to have a simple link straight to the Signature and Avatar Shops to make it a little easier on those who don't like Text Walls....

People won't always have that luxury, so we shouldn't cater to it too much, to a point where things get crowded. Having everything in one spot works just fine, too. The Resource Map is a 'wall', but it's an organized wall. You can easily skim it in seconds and find what everything on it is about because it's clearly labeled. :3

It's quite obvious to see you're just trying to protect your precious resource map

Don't get me wrong I love it myself

But not everyone does...and like 3 extra links doesn't crowd up the message, it's only when you paste in a wall of text that it becomes an issue from a design and spacing perspective....
