Questions about an Ask Pony blog?

Hello, everyone. I signed up for this forum because I wanted to know a few thing about starting an Ask blog. Namely, I'd like to know about the kind of art I'd need to produce. I'm not much of an artist (More of a writer really), so I'm not sure I'd be able to make anything high quality. I'd just like to know:

1. Would you read an Ask blog with less than stellar art?

2. Would it be a community faux pas to use a background from the show? I think if I had backgrounds already made to use the challenge would seem much less daunting.

3. Lastly, the Ask Pony blog I'd like to create is centered around a ponified Daria (The contrast between MLP's message of friendship and Daria's cynicism is too rich to pass up on). I'd like to know if any bronies are interested in Daria? I've seen a complete lack of Daria in the fanbase, and I take that as a sign that either MLP fans and Daria fans don't mix, or that that there is an extreme need to introduce Daria to the fandom.

I think it depends on what you are asking about.

 

There are already a good few blogs out there called "ask X" (but don't let that put you off).

 

What I would say, is think of something that you care happy to write then write about it and make it your own. If you try and pander to what people want it won't be as fun + it won't feel as original.

Um... Thanks... Even though you answered none of my questions... I'd really just like to know what's expected art-wise. I'm thinking I'll try to use the style of the ponies in the BBBFF reprise, since it seems easier to replicate.

1- Well, probably no, but if have problems with your "Art" maybe you should first come up with a style of your own, it doesn't have to be 100% show-like, in fact many ask-blogs are difined by their art style, the more diferent while being apealing, the better. Maybe you would want to leave some samples to see what are you made of.

 

2- what do you mean with that? like, put a background photo from the show and make your drawing without making something of your own? if so, then no, you shouldn't, making backgounds will improve you as an artist anyway, the more you practice the better you'll become.

 

3- It would definetely make a good contrast, but Daria would feel off, Daria was a product of the 90's society, she was like that becouse of everyone else, if have to guess she wouldn't be so cynical in ponyville becouse there's really nothing to complain about, most of the caracters (if not all) are not mean or evil (hell, they're not even incompetent), they're naive or agresive at best, so i don't see her being cynical at pinkie pie becouse she is genuine about who she is, she's not dumb or incompetent neither, maybe a little hyperactive but that's it. You could make a cynical caracter ON equestria, but it couldn't be Daria.
