Contests And Events Subsection

So here is my suggestion...

 

We should create a sub section for "Contests and Events"

Official contests and events run by either staff or staff approved people would be added here for people wanting to participate to quickly see.

 

i know atm their are pretty much no official contests and so creating this subsection would help kick start ideas for such contests.

 

contests can be gaming contests,artistic contests, writing contests and so on, anything that you can think of, you can pt\ut forth the idea and get it added to the official contests.

 

This would be a great way to bring the community some more fun while they enjoy the site.

 

Tis just a small suggestion though :3

 

Feel free to tell me why you already had this idea and it was removed if thats the case...

Contests aren't the most widespread thing in the world. Usually the contests we have are somehow pony related, and are in either Show Discussion or Sugarcube. Those topics usually get pinned if they're given enough detail by the person trying to run them. I think an entire section would be overkill :3

I do suppose thats true. But if we had people working on adding more contests each month, the section would grow fairly quickly, we'd just need dedicated peeps to handle it all, and Im sure there are many people out there with contest idea's. But, then again, there is only so much you can do about it and you can't "force" contests, so I suppose best course of action is to wait for the future :3

Who knows, maybe more contests will come, leading to a need for a specific location for them :3

Having too many contests at once then deals into 'we want quality over quantity, not vice versa'. Too many contests going on at once, and suddenly you have some that get ideal attention, and some that get metaphorically shoved into the corner of the room. I'm all for people trying to organize contests more often, but I don't think more than two or three 'official' ones that end up getting pinned, per section, would be a good idea. An entire section to house those contests would still result in that issue of some getting minimal attention. In fact, it may even be worse. We wouldn't have any way of making the contests stick out if they were all put into into a single section, and were thus treated like regular topics.

 

Having them periodically, and pinning them at the top of their relevant forum works best, IMO.

 

I wouldn't be against, and have thought about before about making some public bulletin board topic or post or message that lists a few things regarding contests, like which ones we have yearly, where they're located, what sort of contest ideas haven't been done yet perhaps, things like that. But I dunno where it would go or how it would look, so.
