Estella 88 April 27, 2013 Share April 27, 2013 Compared to what I can do, this is like trying to compare the Mona Lisa to a five-year-old's macaroni drawing. Your drawing being the Mona Lisa. In other words, I salute you! 1 Singer, picture editor, and most of all, a fan of MLP.
Mr. Jaguar 1,403 April 27, 2013 Share April 27, 2013 You seem to be new, your proportions are kinda eh, so I would suggest referencing. Take a picture of a pony from the show, and try to replicate it as good as you can. Try this one: One's like these are easiest due to the lack of small, hard to see details. For the shine (white spots) in the eye, don't give the one that slightly protrudes out of the pupil a black outline outside the pupil, it wont look as shiny. Make her iris grey (dark grey and the top, you can see that it's darker at the top), and make her mane light grey, leave the rest of her white. Use a q-tip or your finger to smudge the grey in the pupil and mane to make it look nicer. Use an HB pencil to do the initial sketches, then a 2b, 4B, or 8B to darken the lines and anything black like pupils (you want those to look really black, expect where the white spots are), and make sure your lines look super clean, tho it looks like that's not an issue for you. Try and try and try over and over and over till you draw a picture so accurate to this pic that you're afraid people will think you traced it, you want it to look exactly or border-line exactly like the original. Just follow this advice for now, I believe this is the best advice for you to improve as an artist.
