Starshy came over to the table, floating the two plates along in front of her. She set one down on the table by Chocolate and her own on the other side. She sat across from him, starting to eat a bit of the eggs. " That sounds wonderful. " She said after a moment once she had chewed and swallowed. " I didn't mean to sound so surprised. I'm actually quite happy. We can start a little family in this new place someday. " She smiled at him, continuing to eat.

He nodded in agreement using his hoof to slowly separate the eggs and bacon just the way he liked it. He slowly began to eat and spoke as he wiped his muzzle with a napkin. "Once we settle in we will be able to live how we want." He spoke as though he had been mulling the idea over for a while. "A family..." His voice trailed as he seemed to stop eating as he became lost in thought. "Star... I have to say the thought is a bit jarring. I never believed I would ever find a mare who cared for me enough to even consider a family."

Starshy blinked a bit, surprised slightly by his confession. How could he ever think no mare would not want to be with him? He was a kind, gentle soul. Any mare would be lucky to have him, and she sure felt lucky to have him in her life. 

 

" I love you, Chocolate. So much. I mean, I would not have done those.. things with you if I didn't.. " Starshy blushed a smudge. " And I would be nothing but overjoyed to start a family with you. "

He also blushed and averted his eyes when she returned his feelings and told him that she loved him as well. It was odd for him but he almost felt like going over the table to give her a big hug. It would be not only strange but slightly comical to see a stallion of his size and stature trying to clear the table like that. He pulled away from his seat and came around the table to give her a kiss to her muzzle. "Thank you, Star. I love you too..." He said after breaking the kiss. "I wonder what our foals would look like..."

He looked to the window and sighed reluctantly. "I do have to head back to the farm, and do my chores for the day." He said going back to clean his plate. "But I'll be back later today." He said as he slowly made his way towards the door.

Starshy nodded, sad to see him go. She understood though and told him goodbye.

 

Once he was gone, she sat alone in her kitchen. The smells of breakfast still lingered. She was thinking about what Chocolate had said before he left, wondering what their foals would look like. She'd have to say that one of them would have a deep chocolate coat like their father, and one may have a pure white coat like her. One would be a unicorn? Would they be earth ponies? 

 

As she was deep in thought, her horn suddenly began to glow a soft pinkish hue. A light burst fourth from it, an envelope appeared within the light. It floated down to the table, neatly landing onto the table in front of Starshy. 

 

It was addressed to her, the lettering in perfect cursive from the University of Fillydelphia. It would be either her acceptance or rejection letter. She swallowed heavily before taking the letter with her right hoof and tearing it open. 

 

Her bright green eyes scanned it over, her heart in her stomach as she read over the pretty hoofwriting. 

 

Dear Starshy,

 

We have received your letter. We are pleased to say that you have been accepted to the University of Fillydelphia.

We look forward to helping you grow in your education and learning all about the wonders there are to behold with unicorn magic.

Please leave on the next train to Fillydelphia tomorrow morning.

 

The unicorn mare lifted her head, feeling a roller coaster of emotions. She was so happy to be accepted, but at the same time also sad that would mean she'd have to leave Chocolate. It wouldn't be forever, as she's told him before, but it didn't make them parting any easier.

[Chocolate 109]

It was much later on in the day when the brown stallion came back into town. The large equine carried a huge saddle on his back that seemed to be full of miscellaneous items. He was a bit hopeful and curious once he made his way to the front door of Starshy's home. He stood on the doorstep, took a deep breath and knocked his large black hoof on the door. Wondering if she had indeed been accepted.

Starshy had spent most of the reminding day getting ready to leave. She had packed her satchel and made sure her home was nice and neat. It didn't take long, since it wasn't all that messy.

 

When she heard a knock at the door, she already knew who was there before she answered it. There weren't many ponies here in Ponyville that would be knocking at her door.

 

She went over to the door and promptly opened it. Starshy gave a smile to the stallion standing there. " Hey there Chocolate, come in. You'll never guess what happened after you left. " 

 

The unicorn mare didn't want for answer and decided to just tell him. " I've been accepted to the school. I'm.. leaving tomorrow morning... "

Chocolate stood silently as she welcomed him inside, his eyes watching her close as she explained what had happened. A small smile appeared on his face as she told him that she had been accepted and nodded. "I'm glad... I knew you would be." He said moving close to wrap his large hoof around her and gave her a hug.

 

Once the hug was broken he stepped back and smiled, "You also won't believe what happened when I got back home." He reached into the large saddle he had draped over his back and pulled out some fresh bags of cocoa, seeds, and other goods from his farm. "These are for you, parting gifts because I know you'll like something sweet to have while you're away at school. But that's not all either..." He said looking down to her.

Starshy happily returned the embrace. She was happy that he at least was happy for her too. 

 

Once the hug was over, he began to explain his own piece of news. She watched as she reached into his saddle and proceeded to pull out a bag of cocoa, seeds, and other foods. Her eyes looked at all the stuff and then back at him, as he said it was all for her. She'd have to use a bit of magic to take all these goods with her, she knew. 

 

" Well, thanks Chocolate.. that's so sweet of you.. but what else are you going to say? " She inquired with a tilt of her head.

[Chocolate 109]

Chocolate smiled when she seemed receptive to the gifts he had brought her, but she was also curious of the other news he had brought. When she asked him he placed his hoof to her mouth and stepped back towards the door. He motioned for her to stay where she was as he opened the front door to her house, and standing in the doorway were a few brown furred equines. His family members, well a few of them anyway. 

"Surprise." They said together. They all appeared to be guilt ridden and a bit nervous. There were his cousins and a few of his brothers all holding a few gifts as they looked to her apologetically. Chocolate began to explain, "It seems our words had an effect on them, and they have changed their minds about how they look at things." He said looking back to them. His younger brother spoke up as well. "You were right... we never really gave you a chance. And since you're leaving tomorrow we thought we'd help Cocoa bring over some gifts."

Starshy was admittedly confused when he covered her mouth with his hoof and held her blindly to the front door. She stood there at the entrance awaiting her cue to open her eyes again.

 

When she did, a small chorus of "surprise" met her ears. She looked surprised to see all the ponies gathering around like this, looking all fairly similar to Chocolate. She was about to ask what was going on but he explained, her expression was genuinely touched. They had all come to apologize for before. It was a little saddening to not see Chocolate's parents admist the group but it was a nice surprise none the less.

 

" .. I don't know what to say.. other than, thank you. " She said with a smile.

Chocolate as well as his relatives seemed a bit relieved when she seemed receptive to their apology. They each came inside and left their gift on her table and left to go back to the farm. "Pleasure seeing you." His younger brother said before they all left. When they all left he stood before her with a warm smile. "In the end everything worked itself out." He said hugging her side. The large stallion watched her close and lowered his head a bit. "I'm... going to miss you, Star." He knew it wasn't goodbye forever but still, he wouldn't be seeing her for a while.

It was a comforting feeling knowing that at least some of his family members now could see past the fact that she was more than they they had believed. It would definitely make going to his farm a little less of a scary thing to wonder around there always thinking some pony was going to spot her.

 

After they had placed their apology gifts on the table and left, it was just her and Chocolate again. He was smiling at her and couldn't help doing the same. In her own humble opinion, this meant more to her than all the gifts that he and his family had just given her. 

 

She was truly falling in love with this wonderful stallion each day, and this certainly made her love for him grow even more.

 

" I'll miss you too, Chocolate. " She said quietly, looking up at him.

The stallion could tell that the gift he had given her was nothing compared to the gesture his family had just shown her. He nuzzled her as they stood together in the now quiet house. He stepped back from her and then turned to the door. "Well I should probably leave you to pack for tomorrow. But I'll be here bright and early to help you to the station and see you off." He said calmly. Deep down he didn't want to leave, he wanted to be with her that night and help her but she probably had a lot to think about without him there. "Unless... you want me to stay." He said with his voice trailing.

" What? Don't go, Chocolate.. " Starshy replied. She didn't want him to leave now. Even if they saw each other tomorrow morning, it would only be for a short time. She wanted to spend her last night with him, as the nights following she'd be far away in a dorm room in a single lone bed. She didn't know when she'd be seeing him again for a while and it felt only right for him to stay.

 

" I want you to stay.. " She went to say. " It's our last night together for a while, so please.. "

The large chocolate colored stallion was rarely one to show emotion, in fact, he was almost statue like at times. However, when he saw the look on her face and the sound of longing in her voice, he knew he couldn't leave even if he wanted to. He turned to face her and nodded. "I understand. I want to be with you tonight as well." He said stepping closer to her. The large stallion placed his hoof around her and nuzzled her lovingly.

Starshy was happy that he chose not to leave her side. When he came over, placed his hoof around her and became nuzzling her she hayed softly. She, too, then nuzzled him back. 

 

" Thank you for staying, Chocolate.. " She said into his chocolate brown fur, giving it a small lick of affection. She didn't know what this night would bring. Would they be intimate again or just nuzzle each other? Either way, Starshy didn't mind. As long as she was with him.

He shook his head making his black mane fall over his face. "No, there is no need to thank me. It is my pleasure." He said very subtly making eye contact with her then back to her bedroom door. He smiled and nudged her a bit. "Since tonight will be our last night together I'd like to be close to you." He said as he stood beside her. His cheeks were a bit flushed after she had licked his chocolate scented and tasting fur. Though she was the only one that could get away with that with him, he still would never get used to it. "Love you, Star."
