The whole intent is for it to be a large metaphor for the debate at hand. What i meant is exactly what you said: the bronies back then were not caring about the hate headed their way. in essence, the right way to deal with the hate. Similar to the just cause the militaries had back then, the best way to deal with the crisis at hand, which is why i drew the parallel. 

 

Also, the connection offers another insight; i am showing that it was worse back then then now. i know how badly hated they were in 2011; i was there. I was also just making the link between the fact we have the gung-ho over-reactors of today, trying to fight hate like its 2011 all over again. that is what i meant by "fighting for former glory". As its like they are simply trying to seem so heroic to go on a crusade, even though no one asked for any trouble.

 

 what I linked to 'glory days' is people trying to fight an enemy(haters)that is not there. basically, looking for a fight when there is'nt one. its not about glory. it is the military parallel I was drawing, how they also are looking for an "enemy" to fight when there is a lull in the action, and how all of them are foolish in that manner, as all they end up doing is damaging everyone else for no reason.

 

Yes, but what you said has its differences. I said bronies weren't seeking hate or fighting, they're looking to justify something that doesn't need justification by going off on anything that puts MLP or the fandom in anything less than 'neutral' light.

Yes. but that in essence is what a metaphor is meant to acheive. its not a perfect representation of the issue at hand, it just gives a parable to tell it. Of course i did not mean going out and hating. you could see it was just simply meant to say people are doing something that does not need to be done. i just made a story out of it.
