Feather Gem 967 July 27, 2013 Share July 27, 2013 Have any of you ever wondered how I do my digital art? I mean it looks so painty and I only use a mouse. C'mon what the heck. Well, its painty because I use the ArtRage demo. Look it up, you'll find it. And the mouse thing...well I suppose that's just skill xD And practice. Practice the traditional way. The mouse thing will come. Anyway. Step One: Do the basic outline of whatever you want to draw. In this case, I drew a pony. In this art program, you can have references. In this case, I took a reference of a pony laying down and a Discord plushie. You'll get that in a moment. Step Two: Erase the unneeded lines. Step Three: Draw on the mane and the tail. Erase unneeded lines! Step Four: Add any additional accessories if wanted. In this case, a Discord plush. That reference makes more sense now huh! Step FIve: Ready the important colors on the side. Step Six: Color in the mane and tail. Add in shading if you like! It looks nicer that way. Step Seven: Color in some of the ponies body with a color that paler than the actual pony.. Now, I'll show you shading. Step Eight: Finish shading it in. Now, to do this, just keep moving the color down before using it again. For the best results, move the color to the greyer area rather than the brighter area. Don't worry if you go over any details like eyes. Those were to make it easier to draw at the beginning. You can add them again later. Quite simple. Don't forget to blend the colors a bit for better results. That's a nice thing about ArtRage. Step Nine: Color in the extras. Step Ten: Earlier, perhaps you went over the eyes and nose and details. Add them back in now, preferably with the pencil tool a shade darker than the original color. You don't need to outline everything. Don't forget the cutie mark! Step Eleven: Add in a background and slight shadows. It doesn't have to be too extreme. I simply made this background green for grass. Step Twelve: Make it yours! I add in some detail to the mane. You can do that (I'll kill you), or anything to make the style yours! Step Thirteen: Add your signature to make it less likely for your art to get stolen. It also looks professional! You're done! Print-screen it, put it in MS Paint or whatever, crop it and show the world! Now I'm going to make myself a new avatar and cry in the corner in regret that I showed everypony my tricks. 2 DiSCoRd'S AppRENtICe Promise Me - A Fanfiction By Feather Gem
