But I LOVE My Little Pony and I don't care who knows it. 

 

I just don't see the point in labelling myself. I'm me and that's that :3

 

So I'm Dilarus, but you can call me Sam if you like. I'm a 26 year old guy from Winchester in England and I'm one of those arty types.

 

A while back I got sick of living my life from paycheck to paycheck and working jobs I hate just so I could afford food and took it upon myself to write stories and start drawing again and throughout the process My Little Pony has been a major source of inspiration.

 

Whether it was the colourful characters, the adorable designs, the strong visual aesthetic or the wonderful songs I just couldn't help becoming entranced by the show and even now whenever I'm feeling down or lonely I watch smile, smile, smile and I feel like there's still hope.

 

There's something to be said about a show dedicated to putting a grin on your face and I honestly feel that the world has become a better place for it. We hear about all the terrible things happening around the world every day in newspapers and on TV but that's not all there is in the world, people can be kind and trustworthy if only you give them the chance and My Little Pony helped me realise that.

 

So why am I here on this forum? Well since I started writing and drawing I've been able to craft a few original pieces I'm turning into animations in the hope of entertaining people and maybe making them think too. Looking back on all the happy moments My Little Pony has given me I thought it only natural that I give something back to the community and so I'm working with a team to create a My Little Pony fan animation!

 

It's early days but I have high hopes for it. I've been tasked with drawing concept art, drawing storyboards and so on and it's all very rewarding work and something I enjoy immensely. So I've joined this forum to keep my ear to the ground, learn to draw ponies, interact with like-minded artists and just be a part of the My Little Pony fanbase.

@Hawkflame thanks for the support, I'm a stickler for preparation so I'm insisting on having the plot, character designs and locations finalised before I draw frame one but rest assured I'll be coming back here periodically to post updates and get feedback!

 

@Wingnut are you crazy? Favourite pony? That's like asking for my favourite limb!

 

Well I said that I watch smile, smile, smile, periodically because it's so memorable and uplifting and epitomises what the show means to me. It's there to show me that people can do marvellous things to raise each other's spirits and maybe sometimes bringing a smile to someone's face can be magic and the spark that starts a wonderful friendship. For that I'll always have a spot for Pinkie Pie in my heart.

 

That said I admire Applejack greatly, she's selfless and works herself ragged to benefit those around her, putting her friends and family before her own needs. I always felt that she deserved Twilight's spare ticket to the Grand Galloping Gala the most because she wanted to go to raise money for her family and not simply go to experience the festivities or show off to the Wonderbolts (seriously, Rainbow Dash was being kinda self-centred there). I want to emulate her example in my work, I always want others to benefit from my efforts and be the best they can be, I've never wanted to be rich and famous or the centre of attention but if I can help people I care about be who they want to be then any amount of effort is worth it.

 

Then there's Apple Bloom. Besides being energetic and positive, a born leader and a blank flank (which I really relate to, only recently have I know what I want to do with my life) she's just SO DARN CUTE! Of course Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle get points for being Crusaders but when I read that Sweetie's singing voice was actually done be Apple Bloom's voice actress I gave those points to Apple Bloom

 

Twilight has some serious Mother issues with Celestia, Rarity is, let's face it, vain and self-aggrandising (the way she blew off designing Twilight's birthday dress in order to mingle with the Canterlot elite was just low) and Rainbow Dash is too hell-bent on being cool to really reach her potential and become a well-rounded individual. That's not to say she can't turn it around but as it stands I dislike her.

 

So, yeah. All in all I guess Applejack is my favorite pony. Pinkie Pie inspires me but Applejack embodies who I want to be like.

 

 

Of course, if I'm totally honest I admire the designers, writers and animators who made My Little Pony a great deal more since they managed to do the unthinkable and get me to believe again and gave me something to strive for, but you asked my favorite pony so there it is.

 

And if you must know my favorite limb is my right arm.

 

Oh dear, I forgot to mention how I found out about My Little Pony.

 

Well, it's not glamorous but it was all the .mov series' fault. I watched a short by Hotdiggedydemon years ago called "Jerry" and it really touched me, it first put the idea in my head that I could be an animator but then life kinda got in the way. A few months back I saw the .mov series on youtube and saw that it was made by the same guy so I watched it. It was hilarious and introduced me to the characters. I watched My Little Pony afterwards to compare the characters' personalities to their .mov counterparts and accidentally found that the series was chipping away at the stone encasing my heart.

 

On a tangent:

Several months later I took a detour from my animation group to focus on My Little Pony related material and was poking around the Newgrounds forums for similar minded people. I found a group looking for help creating an animation and volunteered... only to have the thread swamped by people posting frankly disgusting things in utter hatred of Ponies. It was the first time I witnessed people bashing Bronies first-hand and I found that it really stung. My Little Pony is about tolerance and understanding and people disliked that? What's wrong with being good people?

 

So the thread was cleaned up by moderators and someone suggested posting the request on the MLPFORUMS and provided a link. I followed it here, poked around for a bit and was delighted by what I saw.

 

So that's how I found out about My Little Pony and the MLPforums.

Well, you're only a Brony unless you say so, and I would love to see the finished animations once they're done.
