Prologue

It all started when the Great Creator finished making the pink ones. He made me the creator of stars. Hot flaming balls of gas I can make out of nothing. I have made them a part of me. They are in my mane and tail, they dot my face and line my hooves but sadly they can not communicate. As I swirl the stars into a face I ask the creator if there was something, anything he could do to fill this void I had. He did not say a word as he turned around and when he was facing me full on said “I have been waiting for you to ask for a companion for eons. I’m surprised you didn’t come to me sooner.” I ask him what he’s been hiding from me. He simply takes me to a part of the universe I hadn’t been to and reveals to me a beautiful celestial being. I could tell she was made for me because she made these cold, dead, lifeless formations of rock and ice waiting to be warmed. We suddenly connect and know this was a plan bigger than us.

After a few eons we decided to create life a power given to us by the Great Creator. We created beings of immense power winged dragons, great hydras, phoenix, and great equestrian beings called Alicorns. Being our only creation that could communicate between others of their race they form a league the League of Alicorns. The league gets very far in creative thinking a time came when they decided to create life themselves. The League made many more Alicorns for their ranks stopping only when something went wrong. A male Alicorn was created. A few of the League said it should die others said it should live. A final decision was made to keep the child alive and send it to an isolated planet and to stop the creation of any and all Alicorns. Those that wanted children went rogue, abandoned the league and made themselves a mate. The first Alicorn to leave was Dawn she made a mate and called him Astros (I still need a name for him). After some time passed they decided to make children. Now not being as powerful as the original members of the League they could only make 2 Alicorns at once lest they die from lack of power. Celestialis and Lunaisa were their 2 children the first name meaning beginning and happiness the latter meaning continuation and longevity.

Another eon passes and the couple had inhabited a world and filled it with creatures both big and small but their most alarming creation was other equestrians. They made earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns on a single planet for their little princesses to rule over. It was magnificent the planet had every type of terrain possible and a large variety of animals. Little did they know what lie in wait for them. As the children grew older they became known to the world as Celestia the Sun Raiser and Luna the Moon Goddess. But still only children they awaken a young male Alicorn who is to be their friend, ally and tragicly a great tool in the chaotic formation of their future kingdom. This is only the surface of events that transpired at the start of this world and I am here to tell you the rest of the story.

Chapter 1 

Cosmodius

“Hey Luna, watch this!” Luna looks over as I use my magic to make the stars dance and swirl. I finish off by making a portrait of myself being satisfied I let the image dissipate. Luna looks over at me and says in a soft voice “That was cool but I can do something better.” I stand there a bit shocked that Luna would say something so arrogant so I simply reply “I know, I know you can raise the moon and your sister the sun. But what am I supposed to do? What is my purpose in this small world? I feel useless. Almost as bad as I did before you two showed up.” Luna walks over and sits down next to me and says “Cosmo, there is more to your existence. You just need to be patient. Only time will tell you what your destiny is.” I look over to Luna “But right now I feel useless.” We look out over the horizon as Celestia and her mother, Dawn raise the sun. Luna turns to me and says “I will help you in any of your troubles. All you need to do is just ask and I will be there for you.” I look at her and say “Thanks. That makes me feel better” Silence fills the clearing as we watch the ritual raising of the sun. I watch Celestia work her magic pulling and pushing the sun higher and higher into the sky getting help from her mother only when she needs it. I look at the clouds as there colors go from a deep purple to a stunning red orange and finally to a soft gold. The colors wash over the small forest we are in bringing in that cool morning air and putting dew on the grass and trees. Celestia starts walking toward us I don’t know why but I saw her in a different light that day. She was glorious. Shining bright her wings spread wide her stride confident and absolute. As she came to the apex of a small hill with the sunrise at her back and her pink mane blowing in the wind ever so slightly she looked like an angel. And as Luna trots up to Celestia I realize I’m in love.

All I could do was admire her in secrecy. The rest of the day was a haze and went somewhat like this. ‘As Celestia trots over Luna meets her half way saying something I couldn’t quite make out but I think it was somewhere along the lines of good job sis. Celestia then says something back as I look to the sky thinking about how I should tell her. I trot over attempting to tell her how I feel but end up saying “Yeah, Great job Celestia.”  She asks me if something is wrong I reply with a no and keep on wondering what I should do. I hear Luna whisper something I think to myself what if she knows? I quickly dismiss the idea as my mind wanders.’ The rest of the day was an even greater haze. Well all but one aspect where I learn something very valuable. That day is now long gone. It was painful those first millennia watching her grow more beautiful and powerful every day. If only she knew how I felt. Why? Why does love have to be so complicated? Alas as I grew a day came when I was finally able to tell her how I felt. I manned up and told myself “Cosmo, you can do this. Just say it once and it will all be over with.” Celestia could tell I wanted something and as she turns to face me head on asks a very simple question “Yes?” I just stand there speechless at her beauty as the light of the sun radiates behind her.

Celestia

Mom had to help me with the sun rise again. I’m worried I might never be able to do it myself. The sunrise today is a warm fall sunrise. There is a chill in the air dew forming on the grass and trees. If you stand in the sun you can’t quite feel the cold nipping at your skin. I inhale deeply it smells like the time after it rains on a cold fall day. I can smell the dew on the grass, the bark of the trees, and even the cool, moist dirt. All these things tell me this is going to be one of those days where we can just relax and have fun just Luna, Cosmo, and I. I walk up the hill to see Cosmo and Luna staring at me. Luna trots up to me with a smile so big and says “Great job with the sunrise Celestia! I’m sure everypony will love it!” I blush thinking they didn’t notice Mom helping me and say “You don’t have to say that, really. I do it everyday.” Cosmos nervously walks up to me and says “Yeah, great job Celestia.” then continues to stare into the clouds. I could tell something was on his mind. I ask him “Is something wrong?” I break him from his train of thought and he suddenly looks down “No. Nothing is wrong.” I turn to Luna as his eyes turn to the sky and he returns to thought. She whispers under her breath “He is starting to feel useless and is afraid he won’t find his place in this world.” I’m only a little surprised at this revelation seeing as we only found him two years ago. I turn to Luna and ask “Is there anything we can do to help him?” before Luna says anything Mom walks over and says “Come on girls your father has something to teach you.” Luna and I look at each other and say in unison “Really! What is it?” as we hop up and follow her. Mom looks back at us and says “If I tell you that it would not be a surprise now would it?” Luna looks at me giggles and says “It was worth a try. Now wasn’t it?”

Luna

Cosmo walks up to me and says “Astros has something else to teach you? I thought you already knew everything.” I look at him and say “We hardly know anything yet. He could just be telling another legend with a moral lesson again.” Cosmo looks over to me and says “We both know how long he can ramble on about stuff like that. Remember the last time.” I think back to the two day tale. Father would not stop speaking and the overall moral was to avoid corruption no matter what the cost. “Yeah.” I reply. “You would not stop complaining you were hungry.” Cosmos looks down chuckles and says “Do you think that was the reason he rambled on so long?” I look ahead at Celestia and Mom. They are turned back standing there waiting for us to catch up. I say “Let’s go Cosmo. And I don’t think that was the only reason for him rambling like that.” Cosmo looks at me as we run to catch up with Celestia and Mom and says “But it is still one of the reasons. Right?” I give a sigh as we slow to a trot and fall in step beside Mom and Celestia.

For some reason the entire time we were walking Cosmo stayed as far away from Celestia as possible. At any given moment Mom and I were in between them. It’s almost as if he is scared of something. As we walk Mom tells Cosmo that this lesson is only for Luna and Celestia. Those words snapped him out of his daze and he had the greatest look of betrayal on his face. I feel sad for him this could only make him feel more useless about himself. We make it to a rock farm where I see Dad showing some earth pony’s how to get the gems out of the rocks. He turns to Mom and asks “Are you sure they are ready?” Mom nods. Celestia perks up and says “Ready for what Mom?”

Chapter 2

Celestia

I sit quietly as Dad tells us that this secret is a power unlike any other. It is a spell that allows the creation of magic enhancers. I wait for him to begin his lesson Luna and I end up sitting there quietly for about five minutes. Dad then says “I will not start until you each gather a precious metal from a dangerous place.” I look over at Luna and she asks “It can’t be that dangerous, Can it? I mean we do have wings and magic.” As I am about to say something Father interrupts and says “There are two mountains, one on each side of this world. You are to pick one mountain and go alone. Each mountain has a special attribute. One takes away the power of flight, the other the power of magic. I will not tell you which does what.” I think to myself If Luna gets the flight inhibiting mountain she might not make it to the metal. Her magic is weaker than mine but if I get the magic inhibiting mountain then I’m not sure I will make it out in one piece at all.
