Scootadress 361 August 5, 2013 Share August 5, 2013 I was drawing Cadence but her wings are hard to color, really hard to color without looking like crap. How can you get her wing colors correct to her character? I tried to do so and get her wings to a blend of purple and pink, but found it hard to make it look nice like how they show it within the show. NekromantiaFox 270 August 5, 2013 Share August 5, 2013 It really has everything to do with what medium you are attempting to use (digital, watercolors, acrylics, colored pencil, marker, etc) Deviantart: http://nekromantiafox.deviantart.com/
Scootadress 361 August 5, 2013 Author Share August 5, 2013 Hi there! May I ask what medium you are using? I use acrylic myself. If I was going for the 'Cadence color', I would probably use a mixture somewhere in this range. Though, I am not very scientific when I paint, I just go with what feels right. 80% Titanium White 10% Calico Red 5% Magenta 5% Deep Tomato Red But I am making this overly complicated! Really, just go heavy on the white, and easy on the rest, you will work into it. I was using digital and I was stuck on the longest time on the wings. (Using Sai) It really has everything to do with what medium you are attempting to use (digital, watercolors, acrylics, colored pencil, marker, etc) Apparently I figured it out. Using Sad, you must use LOTS of purple and the water icon to the second highest degree. Took me so long to make it look like her wings....I almost made her a unicorn. Well, I'm glad you figured it out XD I don't have any fancy tools, so I normally just go ahead and use the smudge tool, adds an interesting look imo, using that to blend the colors into each other. Most people just use gradients. Deviantart: http://nekromantiafox.deviantart.com/

Oh, all of my work is traditional. I recently got a tablet, so I'm learning how to use digital, but I've never really been very good at it. I had mine since the end of May but I didn't understand how to use it much until June. (Though, the only people that helped me out with it were from this forum, not my art page) I've been using traditional and I been loving the markers.
