"Help me find my parents" Violet rolled her eyes "My sister is right here you-"

 

Madrid interrupted the conversation "Don't be so touchy sis, he's only trying to help"

 

Violet suppressed her anger and continued "Right, sorry. *sigh* I'm currently waiting for permission from Romula to leave the base. Since we're not trained like the Marines, she thinks it's dangerous" She suddenly perks up "But you seem to be allowed to leave. Maybe you could persuade her that you'll come with me to look!"

Blast nodded. "I'm not with the Marines, so maybe I could persuade her easier. She doesn't want me to leave, though. I think she underestimates my abilities." Blast did have a bit of an ego. He smirked at the sentence he made. "I'll talk to her for you if you want."

"Yes please" Violet gave a weak smile "Just... anything related to my parents would lift my spirits"

 

She looked over at Leo who was flirting with Madrid. Their laughter could be heard from quite a distance away.

 

"And take Leo with you, I don't want him near my sister" She gave a disgusted look

Blast rolled his eyes. "Whatever you want." Blast walked to Leo and pulled him away from Madrid. "Come on, Leo. We're going on an adventure!" The two stallions walked out of the canteen and found Romula outside. "Miss Romula, I request your permission to leave the base for a while. We have some work to do."

Romula carefully wielded another piece of metal to her shack. It required her full attention. Any distraction could-

 

*Crash!*

 

"Son of a Discord!" She cursed

 

She turned around to see the two ponies that caused the distraction.

 

"Leave? Are you nutty?" She wiped some dirt off her face "It's starting to get dark. Where are you planning on going?"

Blast walked to the mare's desk and sat in the chair. "The terrain before us. We are leaving to look for the missing family of Violet and Madrid of the sunshine sisters. Keep in mind that I'm an adventurer. I leave my home on a daily basis. You can absolutely trust that we will get back safely."

Romula thought quietly to herself. She pulled out her data pad and pressed a few buttons.

 

"Well, I suppose I can trust you" She hands the data pad to Blast "Give that to Peppermint. He's my 2nd in command. I want him to go with you so he can make a map of the surrounding area"

 

Leo nudged Blast "Oh boy, this is gonna suck"

Blast thought it was a little unneeded. He always seemed to be familiar with the area around him, no matter where he was. Regardless, he took the pad. "Yes ma'am." The stallions then walked away and Blast turned to Leo. "Alright. What's this second in command crap all about?"

Leo sighed "Well, I mentioned Peppermint but I didn't tell you much about him" His enthusiasm faded "The guy is really strict with orders. Very no-nonsense. He just really kills any fun in the atmosphere, you get me?"

 

Coincidentally, Peppermint was nearby. Leo saw him and called him over.

 

"You better not be wasting my time again Leo" He hissed "I have a job to do"

 

"Keep your hair on Peppermint, Romula has a job for us" He handed the data pad to him

 

Peppermint glanced at it and looked back up at the two "Very well, I'll go along with you. But I insist that we do this in a professional manner. No goofing around"

Blast gave Peppermint the board. "We're going on an adventure! Aren't you excited? I haven't had a good quest in forever. Not since we crashed." The stallions walked to the edge of the settlement. Blast looked at the horizon and stars before him. "Should we walk or run, Leo?"

Leo sweated nervously "For the sake of my heart and health, I would prefer to walk!" He laughed then turned to Peppermint "As long as you haven't got a problem with that?"

 

Peppermint glared at Leo "No. No I haven't"

 

The trio of ponies made their way out of the settlement. Peppermint was plotting the route onto the data pad, the map was growing in size as he scanned the area every now and then.

 

"So Blast" Leo said "Which of the sunshine sister do you like most?"

Blast's face flushed red. "Oh, well, um..." He hesitated for a second.

"Probably Madrid. She's an earth pony like me, for starters. Plus, she seems like she's all happiness and joy. I like that." Blast was sort of blushing.

"I'm sure Violet will be a joy once we find her family. Just the mere mention of me saying we'd help her out seemed to raise her spirits."

"Hopefully" Leo shrugged "She was anti-social before the crash landing, but that just might be aimed at me"

 

"I don't blame her" Peppermint muttered

 

Leo gave him an unimpressed look "Right, and I suppose you know how to chat up mares better than I do"

 

"No. I'm not interested in social interaction" He said coldly "Unless it's related to my job"

Blasted was a little annoyed. He didn't want them to get into an argument. "Hey! How about you two quit bickering at each other and let's continue on. We need to find Violet's family before sunrise." Blast decided to lead on. The whole desert looked the same. A couple cacti or plants every now and again would show, but it was mostly just desert terrain.

"Yeah man, stop arguing" Leo said to Peppermint, he just ignored him

 

"It shouldn't be too bad if we go well into the night. I brought camping gear just incase"

 

Another hour passed, the trio seemed to be getting closer to their destination as they noticed more and more scrap metal lying about.

 

"Right" Peppermint yawned "We're still a few good miles away, so I think it's best we rest up here for now. We'll continue travelling after about an hour or so"

Blast shrugged. "I could keep going all night, but if you guys want to, we'll stop for a bit. Leo, you set up a tent. Mint, you make a fire pit. Once you do, I'll try to make a fire with some rocks." Blast found two rocks around the camp ground and tried to make fire with them. He wasn't a big survivalist. He never really even thought about survival instincts until they crashed.

Peppermint noticed that Blast was taking charge, but he let it slide for the moment. Once the camp was set up, the sky got darker until night time descended on the trio.

 

Leo was busy munching on a pineapple whilst Peppermint was tapping away at his data pad.

 

"Blast" He called "Just out of curiosity, what do you think of Romula as a leader?"

Blast was busy making the fire when he looked up at Peppermint. "I think she's good enough. Little bit on the stressful side, but she's alright. It's not like anyone's gonna take charge while we're stuck here." Blast finally lit the fire and put his front hooves up to it. "Still, I'm not one for taking orders. I like to live my life exactly how I want to live it."

"Interesting life philosophy" Peppermint commented

 

Leo finishes his pineapple and throws the remains of it away.

 

"I can't wait to have a crack at that whiskey we have at base" Leo smiled

 

Peppermint snapped his attention to Leo "You brought alcohol into the base? Do you know how much crime is caused due to drunk behavior?"

 

Leo swore under his breath as Peppermint lectured him on drunk crime. He turned his attention elsewhere by cleaning his revolver.

Blast turned to Peppermint. "Dude, you worry too much. The whiskey is being kept safe with Silvak." Blast took another mango out of the basket and started to munch on it. "You gotta learn to relax, man."
(Sorry I was gone for so long. The internet was being a jerk)

Peppermint was about to respond when a few gunshots echoed throughout the night.

 

"What the-" Leo stood to attention "Is that coming from the base?"

 

"No..." Peppermint carefully listened in the direction of the shots "That's coming from near the crash site"

 

Leo quickly holstered his revolver and started to put away the camp "Come on, we better hurry! Those could be survivors!"

Blast got into a running position. "Right! Let's go!" Blast grabs on to Leo and Peppermint's front hooves. "Hold on to your butts! Especially you, Leo." BOOM! It felt like Blast just pulled off a sonic boom the second he took off. Within a minute, they arrived back at the crash site.

Peppermint recovered from throwing up his breakfast all over the floor.

 

"I wish you'd gave me proper warning before you did that" He said as he wiped vomit from his mouth

 

The group observed the environment. A large chunk of the hull from the ship 'Unity' laid barely intact before them. Apart from bits debris, the only thing that stood out was a couple of chairs and a campfire that was still going.

 

"Looks like someone is here" Leo whispered "Or was. Keep your eyes open"

 

Peppermint pulled a pistol "Check for any useable supplies whilst your at it"

Blast looked through the debris of the piece. Barely anything seemed useful in the scrap pile. He did find a couple of water canteens that held about two gallons all together, but not much. That was before a large piece of debris caught his eye. He lifted up the debris and couldn't believe what he saw... a survivor.

"Hey, what are you staring-" Leo saw the survivor "Oh heck! We got a survivor!"

 

Leo quickly trotted over with Blast, they checked for sign of breathing.

 

Peppermint came to the scene and pulled out his data pad, he waved it over the survivor "I'm getting a life signs... Seems unconscious though"
